Male pattern baldness, or androgenetic alopecia, can be frustrating. Minoxidil works for some, but if you’re interested in exploring natural remedies through Ayurveda, there are several options to consider based on your dosha and lifestyle.

First, identify your dosha types, such as Vata, Pitta, or Kapha. Male pattern baldness is often connected to an imbalance in Pitta dosha, which governs heat and metabolism. Excess heat or stress can lead to hair loss. Tailoring your approach means addressing this imbalance.

You might find incorporating certain herbs helpful. Bhringraj, often called ‘the king of hair,’ is traditionally used to promote hair growth. Create a hair oil by mixing bhringraj powder in coconut or sesame oil. Apply it to your scalp, massaging gently in circular motions, at least twice a week. Leave it overnight for best results, and rinse with a mild herbal shampoo.

Another option is Amla, rich in vitamin C, which helps condition the scalp. Consuming amla juice on an empty stomach or using amla powder mixed with water as a hair mask can improve hair health.

Dietary changes are strong allies in any Ayurvedic regimen. Include foods that balance Pitta like cucumber, coriander, and sweet fruits. Avoid spicy and acidic foods that might increase Pitta. Hydrate well; aloe vera juice can help cool the system.

Stress reduction is vital as well since it can exacerbate Pitta disturbances. Practicing meditation or yoga daily helps maintain peace of mind and reduce stress.

Lastly, regular head massage with oils like Brahmi or Neem enhances circulation and strengthens hair at the roots. Shirodhara, a classic Ayurvedic therapy where warm oil is streamed onto your forehead, can be especially beneficial if you can access it.

Always consider your unique constitution and any existing conditions before trying new practices, and consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner for a personalized plan.
