Addressing severe hair fall can be a matter of understanding the root cause according to Ayurveda, which often relates to dosha imbalances. Hair fall is generally attributed to an imbalance in Vata or Pitta dosha. The Vata dosha, when aggravated, causes dryness, leading to dandruff and brittleness, while excessive Pitta might lead to inflammation in the scalp, causing hair fall.

Let’s start with some dietary recommendations. Include foods that nourish your hair and balance Vata and Pitta. These are sweet, bitter, and astringent tastes. Ghee is highly nourishing for your hair, so incorporate a small amount daily in your meals. Also, eating amla (Indian gooseberry) can help. It’s rich in Vitamin C and supports hair growth. Try having a teaspoon of amla powder with warm water in the morning on empty stomach.

Scalp massage with Ayurvedic oils like Bhringraj oil or Amla oil twice a week can help foster hair growth and prevent hair loss. Warm the oil before application and gently massage it into your scalp for better absorption. Leave it for an hour or overnight before washing.

As for lifestyle, managing stress is crucial. Practices like meditation or yoga can help reduce stress levels. Avoid using hot water to wash your hair and refrain from using harsh shampoos frequently. Opt for herbal or mild shampoos.

If your hair fall feels extreme, and other symptoms persist, it might be beneficial to consult with an healthcare professional. Any persistent or unusual health conerns should not be ignored.

Consider if you have any underlying health concerns, like thyroid imbalances or hormonal changes, which might require investigation, as these can significantly impact hair health.

Hair fall can be a distressing problem, and often, it’s an indication of an underlying imbalance in your body. In Siddha-Ayurveda, hair health is primarily linked to your dosha balance, particularly Pitta dosha. An aggravated Pitta can lead to hair fall and thinning. To address this, it’s important to first cool and balance your Pitta, as well as strengthen the scalp and hair roots.

Firstly, consider incorporating a diet that pacifies Pitta. Include foods that are cooling in nature, like cucumbers, melons, and green leafy vegetables. Limit spicy, oily, and acidic foods as they might aggravate Pitta. Maintaining adequate hydration is also crucial, so ensure you drink sufficient water throughout the day.

Apply nourishing hair oils like Bhringraj or Amla oil, which are traditionally used in Siddha-Ayurveda to promote hair health. Massage the oil gently into your scalp and leave it on overnight, washing it off the next morning with a mild herbal shampoo. This practice can help strengthen your hair roots and potentially reduce hair fall.

In addition, consider herbal formulations such as Triphala to detoxify the body and improve absorption of nutrients, which aids in overall tissue health including hair. Take Triphala powder mixed with warm water at night before bed, if it’s suitable for your constitution.

Engage in stress-relieving practices like yoga and meditation, as stress can exacerbate hair fall through its effect on the body’s systems. Regular exercise can also improve circulation, promoting better nutrient delivery to the scalp.

Finally, ensure you are getting enough sleep, as rest plays a significant role in maintaining all aspects of health, including hair growth. If symptoms persist or worsen, it’s wise to consult a healthcare professional to rule out other conditions such as hormonal imbalances or nutritional deficiencies.
