can we apply multani mitti daily on face - #42520
I am really confused about my skincare routine! Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot about multani mitti and its benefits. Okay, so here’s the thing. I've got super oily skin and sometimes I break out like crazy, mostly around my forehead and chin. A friend told me that multani mitti is great for absorbing excess oil, and I tried it last week. I mixed it with rose water and it felt amazing! But now I’m wondering... can we apply multani mitti daily on face? Like, would that be too much? I did it for three days in a row and my skin felt soft, but I also read somewhere that using it too often can dry out the skin? I really don’t want that to happen, but at the same time, if it helps with my breakouts, why not, right? I guess I’m just scared of overdoing it. Should I be alternating or using it less frequently? I need some guidance here! Anyone have experience with multani mitti and can share if applying multani mitti daily on face is a good thing, or if I could be messing up my skin more? Thanks a lot!

When it comes to using Multani Mitti, or Fuller’s Earth, on your face daily, caution is key. You’ve correctly noted its effectiveness in absorbing excess oil, which is why it’s a staple for those with oily skin like yours. However, using it daily might not be ideal due to its potent oil-absorbing properties, which can sometimes lead to excessive dryness or irritation if overused.
According to Ayurvedic principles, balance is crucial. If you have Kapha dosha predominance, which often manifests as oily skin, Multani Mitti can be used effectively but in moderation. It’s commendable that you’re using it with rose water, as rose water has a cooling effect that can help balance the drying nature of Multani Mitti. However, using it daily may strip your skin of necessary natural oils, potentially leading to more oil production and breakouts in the long run.
Consider applying Multani Mitti 2 to 3 times a week instead of daily. This frequency allows your skin to benefit from its oil-absorbing properties without overdoing it. Ensure that you moisturize your skin well after each application, preferably with a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer to maintain skin hydration.
In days you don’t use Multani Mitti, incorporate gentle cleansers and avoid harsh exfoliants. Remember that even oily skin needs moisture to maintain its barrier function. If you notice increased dryness, redness, or irritation, cut back on the usage and reassess your routine.
Don’t forget to monitor how your skin is responding. Every skin type is unique, and while Multani Mitti can be beneficial, it’s all about finding the right balance for your particular skin. Stay attentive to changes and adjust the usage accordingly.
