When considering reversing grey hair to black using Ayurveda, it’s essential to understand that we aim to balance your doshas and nourish hair follicles, which can assist in revitalizing natural color. While Ayurveda doesn’t specifically “add melanin” back, it enhances the body’s innate processes to produce it.

1. Amla (Indian Gooseberry): Incorporating Amla in your diet or using its oil directly on your scalp is one traditional method. Consuming amla juice daily and applying warm amla oil to the scalp, massaging gently for 10-15 minutes, could stimulate hair pigmentation over time.

2. Bhringraj (Eclipta Alba): Known as “the king of herbs” for hair growth, Bhringraj can promote natural hair color. Making a paste from bhringraj powder with a little water and applying it as a scalp mask for about 20 minutes before washing your hair might be beneficial if used thrice a week.

3. Curry Leaves: The nutrients in curry leaves help in restoring melanin in hair follicles. Boil curry leaves in coconut oil, strain, and apply as a conditioning treatment once or twice a week, leaving it for 30 mins before shampooing.

4. Sesame Oil: Applying sesame oil regularly could help restore hair color. Warm the oil, apply to the scalp, and let it sit for an hour twice weekly.

5. Dietary Adjustments: Ensure a balanced diet rich in copper, vitamin B12, and iron, as these are crucial for preventing greying. Foods like nuts, seeds, bananas, leafy greens, and beans can support melanin production.

6. Haritaki (Terminalia chebula): Regularly consuming haritaki can cleanse the system, indirectly benefiting hair health. Take it as a supplement or mixed with warm water at night.

These methods may require consistent application over long periods for noticeable results. Ayurvedic treatments are holistic and not quick fixes, so regularity in these remedies could support outcomes over time.
