Lichen Planus Pigmentosus (LPP) can indeed be addressed through Ayurvedic principles by focusing on reducing the doshas involved and nourishing the skin tissues. In Ayurveda, such pigmentation disorders often stem from an imbalance in the Pitta dosha, sometimes coupled with a Kapha or Vata imbalance. Here’s some guidance that may help in managing your condition:

Dietary adjustments is crucial. Favor cooling and soothing foods that pacify Pitta, such as cucumbers, leafy greens, and plenty of hydrating fruits such as watermelon and coconut. Avoid hot, spicy, fermented, and oily foods that can aggravate Pitta further. Also reduce use of processed sugars and junk food. Incorporating turmeric and amla in your diet might assist with inflammation and pigmentation.

Internal herbal remedies like “Manjistha” is a well-known blood purifier in Ayurveda. A daily dose of Manjistha powder with warm water can be beneficial. Consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner to determine the right dosage for you. Another herb, “Guduchi,” is excellent for strengthening the immune system and balancing Pitta. Detoxifying the body is also important, so drinking warm water throughout the day can help to cleanse ama (toxins).

External application is equally vital. Using a paste made from “sandalwood” and rose water, apply to the affected areas and leave it for 15-20 minutes before rinsing. This can soothe and cool the skin.

Lifestyle and stress play a major role. Practice daily stress-relieving activities such as yoga or meditation. Adequate sleep is crucial, as it rejuvenates the skin and reduces stress. Regular abhyanga, or oil massage, with cool oils like Brahmi or Chandan Bala Lakshadi oil can also be relaxing and balancing for Pitta.

It’s recommend to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner to personalize treatment according to your specific constitution and dosha balance. Regular follow-ups and patience is required, as Ayurvedic treatment tends to be slow but holistic approach to health.

Ayurvedic treatment may offer support for managing lichen planus pigmentosus by addressing the underlying dosha imbalance, often related to a disruption in pitta and vata. With this condition affecting your face, neck, and hands, it’s important to focus on calming and cooling therapies that can help soothe these areas and manage the pigmentation.

First step is dietary adjustments. Avoid spicy, sour, and salty foods as they can aggravate pitta. Incorporate cooling and pacifying foods, such as cucumbers and melons, and drink coconut water daily as it naturally cools the body.

For topical application, consider using a paste of red sandalwood powder mixed with rose water and apply it to the affected areas. This may help in reducing pigmentation and soothing irritation. Use this paste once daily, preferably in the evening, and wash it off with cool water after it dries.

Herbal formulations such as manjistha (Rubia cordifolia) could be beneficial. Taking manjistha churna with warm water, about 1/2 teaspoon twice daily, helps in blood purification, supporting the skin’s natural ability to heal and reduce pigmentation.

Supporting your overall health with the practice of regular yoga and pranayama, particularly cooling breaths like Sheetali or Shitkari, can also assist in balancing pitta and improving skin health.

If there’s no improvement, consider consulting with an Ayurvedic practitioner for a personalized plan, including other herbal supplements or therapies that might be beneficial. Avoid self-medicating without guidance, as this could lead to unintended effects.
