Dandruff and Scalp Care Concern - #46245

Client_144244

I am currently using Neelibhringadi keram. However, I think due to the sudden climate change, I have developed dandruff very quickly, and my scalp has become completely flaky. I'm currently living in Goa. I have been busy for the last 3–4 days and couldn't take proper care of my hair. I usually wash my hair daily, but I skipped it for two days. Normally, if I don't wash my hair, I get a white powdery buildup. Should I shift to Dhurdhurapatradi in this case? If I do, can I ever move back to Neelibhringadi?

How long have you been experiencing dandruff?:

- 1-4 weeks

How severe is the flakiness of your scalp?:

- Moderate, noticeable flakes

Have you made any recent changes to your hair care routine?:

- No changes, same routine

Hello, I‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ perfectly understand your concern. A sudden and unexpected climatic change, humidity, say in Goa, missed washings, and Kapha-Pitta aggravated dandruff can be very fast even if your oil and routine are generally good.

YOUR CONCERN & PROBABLE CAUSES

From your clarification: - Currently, you are applying Neelibhringadi Keram -You are living in humid coastal climate (Goa) - Sudden dandruff development with white, powdery flakes - Extremely dry and flaky scalp - The period of dandruff is 1-4 weeks -Its severity is moderate - Hair washing was skipped for 2 days - In other respects, the routine remains unchanged

That is a very strong indication that the scalp condition is the result of weather changes rather than that you have permanently made a wrong oil choice.

Possible Ayurvedic Reasons

1. Kapha Aggravation Due to Humidity Being a coastal area, Goa’s climate is full of moisture and that increases Kapha which causes: - Dandruff with powdery or sticky flakes - Scalp buildup - Itching or heaviness

2. Pitta Involvement Neelibhringadi is a good product for hair fall and cooling but in the humid season: - Too much oiliness + sweat may Pitta–Kapha problem - Sooner or later flakes and scalp irritation will appear

3. Reduced Scalp Cleansing

Even a 1–2 day period where washes are skipped can make a dandruff-prone scalp worse.

AYURVEDIC UNDERSTANDING

This disorder has much in common with: Darunaka Kapha-Pitta Pradhana Twak Vikara (scalp disorder)

Right now, your hair scalp is crying out for a thorough cleanse + Kapha removal and definitely not a heavy feed.

OIL SELECTION GUIDANCE (IMPORTANT)

Will you move to Dhurdhurapatradi Taila? 👉 Yes, just for a while. Dhurdhurapatradi Taila:

Is an anti-dandruff oil Reduces Kapha Helps to get rid of flakes and itching

Method: Massage only the scalp with the oil Leave the oil for 30-45 minutes Limitation: 2 applications per week only Clean with a mild herbal shampoo

⚠️ Do NOT apply it everyday or in a lengthy period of time as it has a drying effect.

Have you thought of going back to Neelibhringadi?

👉 Sure, why not?

When dandruff is gone:

Neelibhringadi Keram Hair length + nourishment is when it is mostly used If necessary, just a little and not overnight, apply scalp

Neelibhringadi is not bad — it is just that your scalp needs a temporary adjustment.

WASHING & SCALP CARE ROUTINE

Every alternate day is a good hair-wash frequency in the humid climate Do not skip washing Hot water should be avoided Facilitate your fingers in the act of exfoliating your scalp, and do not scratch

DIET & LIFESTYLE SUPPORT

AVOID Fried food Bakery items Excess sugar Cold drinks

INCLUDE Warm water Amla, curry leaves Light, freshly cooked food Your dandruff is caused by the climate and it will go away.

For a short period of time, use Dhurdhurapatradi Taila to help your scalp regain its normal state

–Once the flakes are gone, return to Neelibhringadi Keram –Keep up with regular washing during humid weather –With a proper routine of oil changes, one can have both dandruff under ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌control

Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

Your sudden flakiness is classic Kapha + humidity aggravation from Goa’s weather + skipped washes – Neelibhringadi is heavy/cooling, so it can increase oiliness & flakes in humid conditions.

Switch to Dhurdhurapatradi Keram immediately It is perfect for dandruff, flaking & humid-climate scalp – light, anti-fungal, drying effect without harming hair.

Apply Dhurdhurapatradi Keram → massage scalp → leave 30–60 min → wash with mild herbal shampoo (Aritha or Shikakai based) Use 3–4 times/week till flakes completely gone (usually 2–4 weeks) Wash hair every alternate day in Goa humidity – don’t skip

Once dandruff & flakes are 100 % gone (after 4–6 weeks), switch back to Neelibhringadi for hair growth & thickness – alternate or mix both if needed.

Extra fast relief (do these daily) Rinse with Triphala water after shampoo (1 tsp Triphala soaked overnight → strain) → stops itching & flakes fast Apply pure Aloe vera gel on scalp 30 min before oiling as it cools & heals Avoid coconut oil alone right now – it feeds dandruff in humidity

NEELIBHRINGADI KERAM IS EXCELLENT FOR HAIR FALL, PREMATURE GREYING, AND SCALP NOURISHMENT, BUT IT IS A HEAVY, COOLING, AND OILY PREPARATION. WHEN THERE IS SUDDEN CLIMATE CHANGE, HUMIDITY, SWEATING, OR SKIPPED WASHES, IT CAN SOMETIMES AGGRAVATE FLAKY, POWDERY DANDRUFF.THE WHITE POWDERY BUILDUP YOU DESCRIBE IS A SIGN OF ACTIVE DANDRUFF AND SCALP IMBALANCE, NOT JUST DRYNESS.

YES, SHIFTING TEMPORARILY TO DHURDHURAPATRADI KERAM IS A GOOD DECISION. IT IS MORE MEDICATED, LIGHTER, AND ANTI DANDRUFF ,IT HELPS REDUCE FLAKES, ITCHING, MICROBIAL OVERGROWTH, AND EXCESS SCALP BUILDUP, WHICH IS WHAT YOUR SCALP CURRENTLY NEEDS.

USE DHURDHURAPATRADI KERAM FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS,MASSAGE AND WASH OFF AFTER 30 45 MINUTES. DO NOT LEAVE IT OVERNIGHT IN HUMID WEATHER. WASH YOUR HAIR REGULARLY, AT LEAST EVERY ALTERNATE DAY, UNTIL THE FLAKES REDUCE.

ONCE THE DANDRUFF AND FLAKINESS ARE CONTROLLED, YOU CAN DEFINITELY MOVE BACK TO NEELIBHRINGADI KERAM.

DHURDHURAPATRADI DURING DANDRUFF FLARES OR MONSOON/HUMID PERIODS, AND NEELIBHRINGADI DURING DRYER, STABLE PHASES FOR HAIR NOURISHMENT.

AVOID DAILY OILING IF FLAKES ARE ACTIVE EVERY 2 -3 DAYS IS ENOUGH DO NOT SCRATCH OR SCRUB THE SCALP USE LUKEWARM WATER, NOT HOT AVOID HEAVY CONDITIONERS ON THE SCALP KEEP THE SCALP DRY AND CLEAN, ESPECIALLY IN HUMID WEATHER

THIS IS A TEMPORARY SCALP IMBALANCE DUE TO CLIMATE AND ROUTINE DISRUPTION, NOT A FAILURE OF NEELIBHRINGADI

Hello,

I understand — climate change, humidity in Goa, and even skipping hair wash for a day or two can very quickly trigger dandruff, especially if your scalp already tends to form white, powdery flakes. This is quite common and reversible, so don’t worry.

✨About Neelibhringadi Keram:

It is nourishing and Vata-Pitta calming, excellent for hair fall, dryness, and stress-related scalp issues.

However, during active dandruff / flakiness, it can sometimes feel too heavy, allowing flakes to stick more.

2Should you shift to Dhurdhurapatradi Keram? ✅ Yes, temporarily.

Dhurdhurapatradi is lighter, anti-fungal, and Kapha-reducing, so it works better for active dandruff and flaky scalp.

How to use it now 1.Apply 2–3 times per week only 2.Keep for 30–45 minutes, then wash 3.Avoid daily oiling during dandruff phase

Can you move back to Neelibhringadi later? ✅ Absolutely yes. * Once flakes reduce (usually in 2–3 weeks), you can shift back to Neelibhringadi for nourishment.

You can even alternate: – Dhurdhurapatradi once weekly – Neelibhringadi once weekly Hair wash advice * Daily washing is okay only if mild shampoo is used * In humid weather, washing every alternate day is usually better than skipping completely

In short: Use Dhurdhurapatradi now to control dandruff, then return to Neelibhringadi once the scalp is clear. This is a temporary phase, not a permanent problem.

Warm regards Dr.Sumi MS(Ayu)
