Seeking Advice for Managing Long-term Psoriasis - #50349

Client_6f34ba

Hello, I've had psoriasis for 20 years. I have done the following ayurvedic procedures and taken the following medicines. In March 2025, I did a panchakarma (virechana). After this procedure, I was advised to begin taking a spoonful of mahathiktham ghee as soon as I wake up in the morning. After that I mix neem powder with warm water and drink it before breakfast. After breakfast, I take two Kaishor guggulu tablets and one Ghandhaka rasayana. After dinner, I take one Ghandhaka rasayana tablet. In October 2025, I did a basti. In January 2026, I did another virechana. My spots have significantly improved, but there is still some flaking on the scalp. A new spot developed in December of 2025, that is red and itchy on my chest. I use Winsoria oil once a week on my scalp. I have been following the appropriate diet about 85% of the time. What are other suggestions that you have for medications to take or what else to do to clear my skin completely?

How would you describe the severity of your psoriasis symptoms currently?:

- Mild, occasional flaking

Have you noticed any specific triggers that worsen your symptoms?:

- No specific triggers

How would you rate your overall stress levels?:

- Moderate, sometimes stressful

HELLO, Since you describe your current state as mild with occassional flaking, the focus now should shift from strong cleansing to maintenance, scalp specific care, and immune stabilization After multiple virechana and Basti, your system has already undergo adequate purification. Now your symptoms suggest -residual vata + pitta in skin and scalp -mild rakta dhatu involvement -scalp dryness with flaking -new red itchy patch= localised pitta aggravation At this stage, aggressive detox is not ideal. Focus on -Rasayana (immune modulation) -Gentle blood purification -Scalp nourishment -stress stabilization INTERNAL MEDICATIONS 1) CONTINUE -Kaishor guggulu= 2 tabs after breakfast -Gandhak rasayana = 1 tab twice daily after meals 2) ADD FOR SCALP AND RESIDUAL LESIONS -Mahamanjisthadi kashaya= 20. ml with equal water twice daily before meals =excellent for lingering redness and blood purification 3) FOR IMMUNE MODULATION (important for chronic psoriasis) -GUDUCHI GHAN VATI = 2 tabs twice daily after meals 4) IF STRESS IS MODERATE Stress directly aggravates psoriasis -Brahmi vati= 1 tab at night -Ashwagandha churna= 1 tsp with warm milk at night -10 min of nadi sodhana daily SCALP SPECIFIC CARE Scalp psoriasis often persists because -Shampooing too too frequently dries scalp -Oil application only once weekly may not be enough SUGGESTED PLAN Oil scalp 2-3 times per week -Winsoria oil - continue -Neelibringadi taila= if dryness predominant -Ksheerbala taila= if more vata dryness Use mild herbal shampoo= avoid harsh medicated shampoos weekly IF THICK SCALING -Apply warm coconut oil + pinch turmeric once weekly overnight FOR NEW RED CHEST SPOT This indicates localised pitta flare TOPICAL -Psorakt ointment -aloe vera gel fresh -Paste of neem + turmeric Avoid steroid creams unless severe flare DIET (even at 85% tighten a bit more) Psoriasis is very diet sensitive -bitter vegetables- karela, neem leaves micro doses -lauki, tori, ridge gourd -moong dal -old rice or barley -warm water sipping AVOID -curd at night -fermented foods -leftover food -fish + milk combination -excess tomatoes, eggplant, sour fruits -packaged protein powders WEEKLY DETOX MAINTENANCE Once weekly -Triphala 1 tsp at bedtime= if bowel not perfectly clear -OR -warm water + 1/2 tsp ghee at night Only do further virechana if a strong flare happens With 20 year history, complete permanent disappearance is rare But -90-95% control -no new lesions -minimal flaking -long remission periods These are realistic and achievable MOST IMPORTANT MISSING COMPONENT -Stress modulation + consistent routine -Early sleep before 10:30 pm -Regular bowel movement daily These often matter more than adding more medicines DO FOLLOW HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL THANK YOU

It’s good that you’ve seen significant improvement — that shows your current approach is helping. With long-standing psoriasis, complete clearance may take time, and the focus is usually on stabilizing the condition and preventing new spots. Since you still have scalp flaking and a new lesion, it may mean the treatment now needs fine-tuning rather than adding more medicines on your own. After repeated shodhana procedures, sometimes the body needs a shift toward maintenance and strengthening support instead of continued cleansing. You may benefit from reviewing digestion, stress levels, scalp care frequency, and whether your internal medicines need adjustment based on your current stage. A personalized reassessment will help decide the next step and aim for more stable skin improvement.

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
