Hi! I’m an assistant to the Ask Ayurveda doctors. I’ve carefully reviewed your question.
I will explain your symptoms through the Ayurvedic perspective so you understand what is happening in your body as a whole.
In Ayurveda, skin issues like acne are often linked to an imbalance in the Pitta dosha, which governs heat and transformation in the body. The process of waxing can aggravate Pitta due to its heating nature, potentially leading to inflammation and breakouts. Your oily skin indicates a Kapha influence, contributing to excess oil production and congestion in the pores.
The persistent acne and marks you describe suggest a combination of Pitta and Kapha imbalance. The use of certain products may have helped manage the symptoms temporarily, but the recurrence indicates that the underlying imbalance remains unaddressed. The marks left behind could be due to Pitta’s heat causing inflammation and Kapha’s tendency to leave residual heaviness or scarring.
Ayurveda views these symptoms as part of a systemic imbalance rather than isolated skin issues. This means that factors like digestion, stress, and lifestyle play significant roles in maintaining skin health. Ensuring a balance in these areas can help manage and prevent further breakouts.
To give doctors a precise and effective treatment plan, your answers to the questions below are essential. Without this information, the recommendations will be more general and less accurate.
Please answer each question as clearly as possible.
1. How long have you been experiencing these breakouts after waxing? Please specify if it’s been less than 1 month, 1-2 months, 2-3 months, or more than 3 months. 2. How would you describe the severity of your acne? Is it mild with occasional pimples, moderate with frequent breakouts, severe with many inflamed lesions, or very severe with cystic acne? 3. What specific products have you used for your acne treatment? Are they over-the-counter treatments, prescription medications, or natural remedies? 4. Do you notice any specific triggers for your breakouts, such as certain foods, hormonal changes, stress, or weather changes? 5. How is your overall skin condition aside from acne? Would you describe it as oily with occasional dryness, sensitive or reactive, or dull and uneven in texture? 6. How often do you wash your face? Is it once a day, twice a day, more than twice a day, or less than once a day? 7. Have you experienced any significant changes in your diet or lifestyle recently? If so, please specify whether these were significant changes, some minor changes, or no changes at all.
