this is likely due to mild kapha blockage and ama affecting the taste channels (rasa vaha srotas), leading to reduced taste perception. –Assessment Kapha + mild Ama avarana in Rasa vaha srotas with slight Prana vata involvement 1. Aushadhi Trikatu Churna – 1 pinch with honey, BD before meals Amalaki Churna – ½ tsp with lukewarm water, BD after meals Guduchi Satva – 500 mg, BD —Ahara (Diet): Light, warm, freshly cooked vegetarian food Add ginger, black pepper, cumin Use lemon in meals Avoid cold, heavy, oily, and sweet foods ----Vihara (Lifestyle): -----Jihva nirlekhana (tongue scraping) – once daily Gandusha/Kavala (oil pulling with sesame oil) – 5–10 min -----Nasya – Anu Taila, 2 drops in each nostril, morning (empty stomach) Sip warm CCF tea through the day - Pathya-Apathya: ✔ Warm water, light diet ✘ Cold drinks, curd at night, fried food -Follow-up: Review after 7 days

Thank you for your response to my concern. I am doing everything but the churns. I ate meat and I think that caused the lost of taste buds. I am back being a vegetarian in which I have been for 60 years. I am also taking Avipattikar 15 mins before meals. Blessing to you for bringing Ayurveda to the masses. I just wanted another opinion and appreciate your input. 🙏

Sudden loss of taste (partial) indicates Rasa dhatu disturbance and imbalance of Kapha (coating) + Vata (nerve function). In modern terms, it relates to Dysgeusia. What you should do 1. Deepen oral cleansing Continue tongue scraping Add gandusha (oil holding) with warm sesame oil (5–10 min) Gargle with turmeric + salt warm water 2. Stimulate taste buds (Agni activation) Chew small piece of fresh ginger + rock salt before meals Take Trikatu churna (very small pinch with honey) Add lemon + black pepper in food 3. Nasal therapy (very effective) 2 drops of Anu taila in each nostril daily (morning) Helps restore sensory function 4. Diet (restore balance) Prefer warm, freshly cooked, mildly spiced food Avoid: cold, heavy, processed foods Include: tulsi, black pepper, cumin

If not improving in 5–7 days, rule out causes like Vitamin B12 Deficiency or viral issues Maintain good hydration

Tq , as u told about using avipatikarchurn, still feel the same then …go for gandush 2-3 times a day with sesame oil in mouth) and then normal with plain water and daily 2-3 drops of anu taila in both nostrils after steam inhalation when something comes in mouth just spit it out…so this for 7 days atleast and add black pepper in your food.

Loss of taste for 4 days is usually Agni (digestive fire) + Kapha/Ama imbalance in Ayurveda, sometimes after mild viral infection. What you’re already doing is good—just refine and add a few targeted उपाय Simple Ayurvedic Treatment 1. Deepana–Pachana (to restore taste) Trikatu churna (dry ginger + black pepper + long pepper) 1–2 grams + honey, twice daily before food 2. Improve tongue & taste receptors Gandusha (oil holding) Continue sesame oil pulling, 10–15 min morning After scraping, apply Saindhava lavana (rock salt) + few drops lemon juice, gently rub on tongue once daily 3. Herbal decoction CCF tea (cumin + coriander + fennel) Continue 2–3 times daily Add fresh ginger slice + pinch rock salt chew before meals 4. Nasal therapy (important) Anu taila / Shadbindu taila 2 drops in each nostril, morning 5. Rasayana support Ashwagandha churna 3–5 g with warm milk at night OR Chyawanprash 1 tsp daily morning Diet (very important) Eat warm, light, slightly spicy food (helps stimulate taste) Add: ginger, black pepper, jeera, hing Avoid: cold food, curd at night, oily/heavy food, excess sweets

Hello, In Ayurveda, the loss of taste is known as Aruchi or Mukha Vairasya. Since this happened suddenly four days ago without an apparent cause, it often indicates a buildup of Ama (undigested metabolic toxins) or a Bodhaka Kapha imbalance, which governs the tongue and taste perception. The goal is to clear the coating on the tongue, rekindle your digestive fire (Agni), and cleanse the oral cavity. While your current routine of CCF tea and oil pulling is excellent, adding “Deepana” (kindling) and “Pachana” (digestive) herbs can help restore sensory function. Ayurveda Management : 1. Karpooradi Vati This tablet is specifically designed for oral health and clearing the palate. Dose: Keep 1 tablet in the mouth and allow it to dissolve slowly like a lozenge. Repeat 3–4 times a day. 2. Ashtachurnam A powerful digestive powder that helps clear Ama and stimulates the taste buds. Dose: Mix ½ teaspoon with a small amount of warm water or ghee and take it twice daily, 15 minutes before your main meals. 3. Arimedadi Thailam (For Kavala) If you are oil pulling with plain oil, consider switching to this medicated herbal oil. Dose: Take 10 ml of oil and swish it in the mouth for 5–10 minutes every morning on an empty stomach. 15 minutes before eating, chew a small slice of fresh ginger with a drop of lime juice and a pinch of rock salt (Saindhava Lavane). This is the traditional way to “awaken” the tongue. Consider adding a pinch of Trikatu powder (ginger, black pepper, long pepper) to your CCF tea to further stimulate your senses. Continue drinking warm or hot water throughout the day to help flush out systemic toxins.

1.Trikatu churna 1 pinch twice daily with honey before meals 2.Amalaki churna 1/2 tsp twice daily with lukewarm water after meals 3.Anu taila- 2 drops in each nostril once in the morning Continue avipattikar churna Refining Your Current Routine -Gandusha (Oil Holding): Instead of just swishing (oil pulling), hold warm sesame oil in your mouth without moving it for 5–10 minutes. This provides deeper nourishment to the oral mucosa. -CCF Tea: Continue your Cumin-Coriander-Fennel tea, but add a thin slice of fresh ginger to it Diet (Pathya) -Include: Lemon, black pepper, and warm, freshly cooked vegetarian meals. -Avoid: Cold drinks, heavy/oily foods, curd (yogurt) at night, and excessive sweets

Hello, Sudden loss of taste 4 days with no other symptoms is usually -Agnimandya (subtle digestive/metabolic dullness) -Kapha coating in rasa/taste channels (rasavaha srotas) -sometimes early viral or sensory disturbance Good news= reversible quickly if treated early Management 1) Restore taste perception (main focus) -Khadiradi vati= keep 1 tab in mouth, 3-4 times daily =directly stimulates taste buds, clears coating from tongue -Trikatu churna= 1/4 tsp with honey twice daily before meals =improves sensory response, clears kapha blocking taste 2) Improve subtle digestion (even if you feel normal) -Chitrakadi vati= 1 tab twice daily before food =rekindles digestive fire-> improves taste perception 3) Nervous system support (if sensory issue) -Brahmi vati= 1 tab at night =supports nerve signaling of taste Local therapies (very important) You are already doing scraping + oil pulling Add 1) clove + honey application =lightly rub on tongue once daily, stimulates taste receptoors 2) Lemon + rock salt (small amount)= before meals -activates taste buds Diet -warm , light, slightly spicy food -ginger, black pepper, cumin Avoid -cold food -excess sweets -heavy dairy Expected recovery -3-5 days= taste starts returning -7-10 days= near normal Even without symptoms consider -recent viral exposure (very common cause) -sinus congestion (even mild) If persists > 10-14 days -check vitamin B12, zinc Loss of taste is often- temporary blockage, not damage You already started correct practices Just need stronger stimulation + agni correction Do follow Hope this might be helpful Thank you

4 days is a very less time and is termed as acute condition. Avoid dairy, dahi, pickles, papad, oily foods Eat freshly made home cooed food. Drink warm water. ORO T gargles 5 ml to be used to gargle thrice a day. You will see results

A sudden change in diet and stopping certain foods can cause a brief local shock to your oral microbiome. This leads to a thin, invisible layer of stagnation over your taste receptors. You are already doing excellent maintenance practices like tongue scraping and CCF tea, but right now, your taste buds do not need gentle maintenance; they need sharp, direct stimulation to wake them back up. ✓Ayurvedic Action Plan 1. Fresh Ginger and Rock Salt Action: Cut a very thin slice of fresh ginger, dip it in crushed rock salt, and chew it thoroughly 15 minutes before your lunch and dinner. 2. Trikatu Tongue Rub Action: Take a tiny pinch of Trikatu Churna, mix it with a single drop of raw honey to make a paste, and gently rub this directly onto your tongue for two minutes. Rinse your mouth with warm water afterward. Do this once a day in the morning. 3. Modify Your Oil Pulling Action: Stop pulling with plain sesame or coconut oil for a few days. Plain oil is heavy and might be excessively coating your already sluggish taste buds. Instead, do your daily pulling with warm water mixed with a pinch of turmeric and rock salt. This creates a piercing, cleansing action rather than a lubricating one. Regards, Dr Gursimran Jeet Singh MD Panchakarma
