Now that the summer season is at its peak, the intense environmental heat (Pitta) is further melting the unformed metabolic waste in your gut, leading to the shapeless motions. Finding herbs that pacify Vata without being heavy (which causes weight gain) or heating (which causes loose motions) is tricky, but entirely possible. We need classical herbs that are Sheeta (cooling), Grahi (moisture-absorbing to bind the stool) and Laghu (light to digest so they don’t add mass). ✓Ayurvedic Action Plan We need to gently stabilize your digestive fire, bind the shapeless stool, and treat the dizziness without adding any heavy, weight-gaining herbs. 1. Dadimashtaka Churna Dosage: 1/2 teaspoon twice a day. Time: 15 minutes before your lunch and dinner. Vehicle: Mixed with a sip of normal, room-temperature water. 2. Drakshadi Kashayam Dosage: 15 ml mixed with 15 ml of normal water. Time: Twice a day, 30 minutes after your meals. 3. Bilva (Bael Fruit) Powder Dosage: 1/2 teaspoon once a day. Time: Mid-afternoon. Vehicle: Normal water. ✓Crucial Care Rules Routine is the Antidote to Vata: Because intermittent fasting broke your digestive rhythm (Visham Agni), you must eat your meals at the exact same time every single day. Routine is the ultimate natural cure for Vata. Even if you are not very hungry, eat a small, light portion at the set time to retrain your stomach’s biological clock. Cooling Hydration: Stop drinking plain water. Boil your daily drinking water with 1 teaspoon of coriander seeds and 1 teaspoon of fennel seeds. Let it cool to room temperature and drink it throughout the day. It actively cools the gut, prevents summer heat-strokes, and continuously fights bloating. Avoid Raw Summer Salads: Even though it is summer, do not eat raw salads or raw sprouts. They are extremely light and dry, which will instantly worsen your Vata bloating and dizziness. Always lightly steam your vegetables. Regards, Dr Gursimran Jeet Singh MD Panchakarma
How to find cooling medicine for Vata that doesn't cause weight gain during summer? - #54792
Pls suggest COOLING medicine which pacifies vata but Doesn't❌️ lead to weight gain. Bcoz this is summer season taking heating herbs will cause loose motion. As such also as summer started my motion is shapeless. Bcoz of vata my digestion & bowel movement have become unpredictable sometimes I feel very hungry sometimes not at all. Also dizziness, weakness, bloating n all. All this happened after i did intermittent fasting which i have stopped now. So my 50% symptoms have improved but still problem is not gone. Already i am medium built so don't advise weight gaining meds.

Your symptoms are due to Vata aggravation with mild Pitta involvement, mainly affecting digestion (Agni). Irregular eating (like fasting) and summer heat have disturbed your gut, causing variable appetite, bloating, weakness, and loose stools. —Stage 1 (current): Grahani + Vata-Pitta → deepana + Grahi + Mridu Shamana -Use: Avipattikar Churna 1/2 tsf before meal twice daily Kutaj Ghan Vati 2 tab twice daily after meal Musta 1/2 tsf twice daily after meal Draksharishta 10 ml at night with equal amount of water —Stage 2 Once stool normal + Agni stable → THEN mild Lekhana drugs can be considered (if obesity present) Trifla guggulu Divya Medohar vati
Your symptoms suggest aggravated Vata with mild Pitta involvement, especially after excessive fasting during summer. The goal is to calm Vata gently without using heavy, weight-gaining medicines. Cooling & Light Ayurvedic Support: Shatavari churna – ½ tsp with normal water or coconut water once daily (cooling, nourishes Vata-Pitta without usually causing weight gain in moderate dose) Guduchi (Giloy) satva – 250–500 mg once daily (cooling, improves digestion, weakness, and summer heat imbalance) Jeera + coriander + fennel water Boil these lightly, cool slightly, and sip through the day for bloating and irregular appetite. Diet Advice: Avoid fasting, very dry foods, spicy foods, excess tea/coffee, and late meals Prefer soft warm foods like rice, moong dal, cooked vegetables, pomegranate, and thin buttermilk with roasted cumin Avoid overeating even when hunger suddenly increases Lifestyle: Sleep on time and avoid excessive heat exposure Gentle yoga, walking, and stress reduction help stabilize Vata
