A subacute subdural hematoma means there is a collection of blood between the brain and its outer covering, usually developing over days to weeks after a fall or head injury (sometimes even a minor unnoticed one). In a 73-year-old, this condition can become serious, so the most important thing is close care by a neurologist/neurosurgeon. ------Recovery depends mainly on: Size of the bleed Pressure on the brain Symptoms (confusion, weakness, sleepiness, headache, vomiting, speech issues) Her overall health and blood thinner use Whether surgery is needed ------Many elderly patients do recover well, especially when treated early. Some improve with medicines and monitoring, while larger hematomas may require a small surgical drainage procedure. ------plz if , you can share: CT/MRI report details Size/location of hematoma Her current symptoms Whether surgery has been advised Then I can explain the expected recovery more clearly.
Yes, i have mri brain ct scan reports & i Can share it. how to share?
The CT Brain report for Mrs. Usha Nikam (73/F) dated 25/05/2026 shows that the brain bleed seen earlier is improving gradually.
* She had a subdural hemorrhage (bleeding outside the brain, under its covering) on the left side of the brain.
* Compared to the previous CT scan dated 22/05/2026, the bleeding has become slightly smaller, which means there is mild resolution/improvement.
* Current thickness of the bleed:
* Around 6.8 mm in the frontal area
* 8.5 mm in the parietal area
* 6.5 mm in the temporal area
Important Positive Signs
* Earlier there was a midline shift (pressure pushing the brain slightly to one side).
→ The report says this has now completely resolved, which is a good sign.
* No new acute bleeding is seen.
* Brain tissue otherwise appears normal.
* Mild pressure effect is still present, but less severe.
Overall Meaning
This is generally a favourable/improving CT scan:
* The old bleed is still present but reducing.
* No fresh bleeding.
* Previous dangerous pressure effect has improved.
It’s Reducing that is a good sign, keep monitoring the symptoms bcz sometime…small blood clots causes dizziness and giddiness. Have this treatment protocol add garlic in their diet. And rest continue treatment as you are already giving her. — best wishes for her health
She is in drowsiness. Saline, Manitol Injection & glycerol syrup are given to her in hospital icu
oo ok now I got it… So is she is in icu right now? Or discharged?
she is icu still. please guide.
how much time will she take to recover?
Then don’t start the Ayurveda treatment at present, she needs emergency care at this time .which is still providing by allopathic doctors perfectly, ho with them… And time for recovery can be better tell you by the on duty doctors.
••The Role of Ayurvedic Medicine
Critical Warning: Intracranial bleeding is an emergency. No Ayurvedic medicine should be administered independently or as a substitute for neurosurgical care. Ayurvedic interventions cannot acutely dissolve an active clot in an emergency and must only be used as a co-therapy once her neurosurgeon confirms she is completely stable and out of acute danger.
Herbo-Mineral Formulations (Rasa Aushadhi)
These are highly potent, classical preparations utilized in severe Vata disorders and Marma injuries to support neuro-protection:
••Brihat Vata Chintamani Rasa or Yogendra Rasa: Rich in Swarna Bhasma (processed gold particle extracts), these are traditionally used to regulate nerve impulses, protect brain tissue from pressure-induced ischemia, and support long-term functional recovery.
2. Blood Purification and Reabsorption Support
••Kaishore Guggulu: Known for its Vata-Pitta balancing and anti-inflammatory properties, it helps manage localized tissue swelling and supports the cellular mechanisms that clean up metabolic debris.
••Mahatiktaka Kashayam: A bitter herbal decoction that acts deeply on Rakta Dhatu (blood tissue) to soothe localized inflammatory responses and prevent secondary tissue damage.
3. Neuro-Nourishing Oils (Snehana)
••Ksheerabala 101 Avarthi: Administered orally in minimal drops with warm milk (under advice), this heavily fortified oil is highly regarded for pacifying the Ruksha (dry) and Chala (unstable) qualities of severely aggravated Vata, helping to restore cognitive stability.
••Actionable Steps and Care Protocols
Prioritize the Neurosurgeon: Keep a direct line of communication open with her treating neurosurgeon. A repeat CT scan is usually mandated at specific intervals to check if the haematoma is stable, shrinking, or expanding.
••Strict Red Flags (Act Immediately): If she develops any of the following symptoms, transport her to the emergency room immediately:
•Increased drowsiness, difficulty waking up, or loss of consciousness.
•Sudden worsening of a headache or projectile vomiting.
•Fresh weakness or numbness in her arms or legs, or asymmetry in her face.
•Slurred speech, sudden confusion, or a seizure.

••The fact that the midline shift has completely resolved and the thickness is reducing shows that the Avarana (blockage) is clearing, and the body’s Agni (metabolic fire/tissue fire) is successfully resorbing the fluid. ••Here is how we view the strategic clinical approach from an Ayurvedic perspective at this stage of “mild resolution”: 1. Primary Treatment Principles (Chikitsa Sutra) Our main goals right now are to continue subduing Vata, preventing any recurrence of bleeding (Raktapitta management), and promoting the gradual resorption of the remaining fluid without increasing intracranial pressure. ••Vata Shamana (Pacifying Vata): Stabilizing the nervous system and preventing dryness or hyperactivity in the brain tissue. ••Rakta-Stambhana & Prasadana (Blood Stabilizing & Purifying): Ensuring blood vessels remain strong and healthy, preventing any “heep” or fresh oozing, while cooling the vascular system. ••Srotoshodhana (Clearing Channels): Gently helping the body absorb the remaining 6.8 mm to 8.5 mm of fluid accumulation. 2. Herbo-Mineral Line of Management (To Discuss with her Care Team) Since she is stable and improving, heavy Vachan (purgation) or aggressive therapies are strictly contraindicated. We use mild, nourishing, and neuroprotective formulations (Medhya Rasayanas). To Promote Resorption & Reduce Mild Mass Effect ••Punarnava Formulations: Punarnavaadi Kashayam or Punarnava Mandur. Punarnava is excellent for reducing localized edema (fluid collection) safely without causing systemic dehydration. ••Varunadi Kashayam: Sometimes used in low doses to clear stagnant fluids (Kleda) from the upper body. Neuroprotection & Vata Pacification (Medhya) ••Brahmi Vati / Saraswatarishta (Gold or Non-Gold, based on requirement): Brahmi is highly revered for its ability to heal damaged brain tissues, reduce anxiety, and stabilize Prana Vayu. ••Ekangveer Ras / Sameer Pannag Ras: Note: These strong herbo-mineral (Rasa) preparations are sometimes used in very minute, controlled doses to restore nerve function, but only if there are residual neurological deficits (like weakness on one side). Since her scan is normal otherwise, standard brain tonics are preferred. Vessel Strength & Cooling (Pitta-Rakta Shamana) ••Mukta Pishti / Praval Pishti: Calcium-rich Ayurvedic preparations that have a cooling (Sheeta) effect, help maintain stable blood pressure, and prevent internal bleeding tendencies. ••Amrita (Giloy) Satva: Supports tissue repair and maintains systemic metabolic balance. 3. Diet and Lifestyle (Aahar & Vihar) ••Mridu & Ushna Aahar: Food should be warm, freshly cooked, semi-solid, and easy to digest (like Moong Dal Khichdi with a very small amount of cow’s ghee). Ghee is an excellent Medhya (brain tonic) and pacifies Vata-Pitta. ••Strict Blood Pressure Control: In Ayurveda, high blood pressure is an upward surge of Vata-Pitta (Vyan Vayu disturbance). Keep her environment exceptionally calm. No loud noises, minimal screen time, and absolutely no emotional stress. ••Rest: Complete physical rest. She should avoid straining during bowel movements (give mild laxatives like Avipattikar Choorna or Triphala at night if needed, as straining increases intracranial pressure).
She is in drowsiness. Saline, Manitol Injection & glycerol syrup are given to her in hospital icu
So first complete the modern medicine treatment…after the start the ayurvedic treatment according to the symptoms…
How much time will she take to recover?
