Stress can contribute to being underweight and can affect your metabolism, although it is usually not the only reason. ----When you are stressed (for example, due to NEET preparation), your body releases stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline. These can: -Reduce appetite in some people, leading to lower calorie intake. -Cause irregular eating habits and skipped meals. -Increase energy expenditure and restlessness. -Disturb sleep, which can affect weight regulation and overall health. -Cause digestive issues such as acidity, bloating, or poor digestion. -----However, being underweight can also be due to: Inadequate calorie or protein intake. High physical activity. Hyperthyroidism. Nutritional deficiencies. Digestive disorders or malabsorption. Genetic body type. -----For a NEET aspirant, focus on: Eating 3 main meals and 2–3 healthy snacks daily. Including protein in every meal (milk, curd, paneer, eggs, pulses, soy, nuts). Sleeping 7–8 hours regularly. –Taking short study breaks and practicing stress management (walking, deep breathing, meditation). Avoiding excessive tea, coffee, and junk food. —If your BMI is below 18.5 or you are losing weight despite eating well, cosider evaluation of thyroid function, blood counts, and nutritional status.
