One common cause, especially in men, is prostate enlargement, which can press on the urethra and make it difficult for urine to pass normally. Other possible causes may include weak bladder muscles, urinary tract obstruction, nerve-related bladder issues, or chronic urinary retention. When urine stays in the bladder for a long time, it may slowly leak out in drops and the person may take a long time to empty the bladder.
What you can do for now
Avoid holding urine for long periods and try to pass urine whenever the urge comes.
Drink adequate water, but avoid drinking very large amounts at once, especially in the evening.
Reduce excess tea, coffee, alcohol, and very spicy foods, as these may irritate the bladder.
Practice pelvic floor (Kegel) exercises, which may help improve bladder control.
Maintain regular bowel movements, as constipation can sometimes worsen urinary symptoms.
