Is it safe to combine Ayurvedic and Allopathic treatments for my anxiety-induced dyspepsia? - #48855

Client_1955d1

My endoscopy report is normal. Gastroenterologist prescribed tablet 'itcalmsplus 5/0.5' tablet mentioning as Anxiety induced dyspepsia. And also I consulted Ayurvedic doctor for parallel treatment with allopathic. They prescribed perment capsule 1-0-1, stop ibs tablet 1-0-1, amlapitta mishran 15ml 1-1-1 and amlant tablet 1-1-1. Is this good to go with both ayurvedic and allopathic. I want to discontinue allopathic later after one or two months.

How long have you been experiencing anxiety-induced dyspepsia?:

- 1-6 months

Have you noticed any specific triggers for your symptoms?:

- Lack of sleep

What is your current lifestyle like?:

Doctors' responses

Hlo,

👉 Yes, it can be okay short-term, if done carefully, and many gastro/anxiety patients do this — but with a few cautions.

About your allopathic medicine Itcalms Plus 5/0.5 is typically: Escitalopram 5 mg (for anxiety) Clonazepam 0.5 mg (calms gut–brain overactivity) This combo is very commonly used for anxiety-induced dyspepsia / IBS-type symptoms when endoscopy is normal. ✔ Helps gut sensitivity ✔ Helps sleep-related triggers

⚠ Clonazepam can cause drowsiness, dependence if used long-term

Your Ayurvedic prescription is logical for Amlapitta + IBS pattern: Perment capsule → gut spasm, gas, bloating Stop IBS tablet → bowel regulation Amlapitta Mishran → acidity, burning Amlant tablet → acid balance None of these are directly dangerous with escitalopram, but: ⚠ Main concern: Some ayurvedic gut relaxants + clonazepam → extra sleepiness, low energy, heaviness

👉 So: Avoid alcohol Don’t drive if you feel drowsy Take clonazepam only at night

Diagnosis: Anxiety Induced Dyspepsia / Functional Dyspepsia (Endoscopy – Normal)

Allopathic Treatment

1. Tab Itcalms Plus 5/0.5 Dose: 1 tablet at night (0-0-1) Duration: 6–8 weeks Advice: Do not stop abruptly; taper under medical supervision.

Ayurvedic Treatment

1. Amlapitta Mishran Dose: 15 ml + equal water Frequency: Twice daily (1-0-1) Timing: After meals

2. Perment Capsule Dose: 1 capsule Frequency: Twice daily (1-0-1) Timing: After meals

3. Avipattikar Churna Dose: ½ teaspoon Frequency: Once daily at bedtime (0-0-1) With: Lukewarm water

4. Brahmi / Mandukaparni Tablet Dose: 1 tablet Frequency: Night only (0-0-1)

Diet & Lifestyle Advice

Regular sleep schedule; minimum 7–8 hours

Avoid late nights and sleep deprivation

Avoid spicy, fried, sour foods

Avoid tea/coffee after evening

Small, early dinner

Gentle exercise, yoga, pranayama

Follow-up: After 4 weeks or earlier if symptoms worsen

Yes, Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines can be taken together for now. Your allopathic medicine is for anxiety-related indigestion, not a serious disease (endoscopy is normal). Ayurvedic medicines are for digestion, acidity, IBS balance. Important points: Keep a gap of 1–2 hours between allopathic and Ayurvedic medicines. Do not stop allopathic suddenly. If symptoms improve in 4–8 weeks, your doctor can slowly reduce allopathic medicine. Manage stress, sleep well, avoid spicy/oily food, caffeine, alcohol.
