Doctors' responses

No. Ayurveda cannot reliably cure gallstones, especially with a 16 mm stone, multiple stones, and severe pain. What to do: See a surgeon/gastroenterologist soon — surgery is the definitive treatment. Avoid fatty, fried, and spicy foods now. Use Ayurveda only as support, not as a cure.

A 16 mm gallstone with multiple small stones is difficult to completely dissolve with Ayurveda, but Ayurveda can help in reducing symptoms, improving bile flow, preventing growth of stones, and sometimes reducing stone size if done properly and patiently (3–6 months). Results vary person to person. Ayurvedic understanding Gallstones = Pittashmari Improve bile flow Reduce bile thickening Prevent new stones Avoid inflammation & pain Medicines Arogyavardhini Vati – 1 tab twice daily after food Punarnava Guggulu– 1 tab twice daily Phalatrikadi Kwath / Liv-support syrup – 20 ml twice daily before food Pithorin – 1 tab twice daily Triphala churna – ½ tsp at night with warm water Minimum 3–6 months Warm, freshly cooked food Rice, wheat, moong dal Lauki, tori, pumpkin, carrot Apple, papaya Warm water (sip through day) AVOID Fried food, bakery, cheese, butter Eggs, red meat Refined oil, reheated oil Cold drinks, ice cream Long fasting
