Ayurvedic Practices for Evening Hygiene - #50783
Baths (Snana) are prescribed for mornings, Kapha period. After a long days work especially outdoors perhaps tending to plants and animals, building things etc, working up a sweat and getting dirty, how did someone manage that before bed? Did they bathe a second time? I've heard this was not generally recommended i.e. evening bathing. Do you just sleep with a dirty body and deal with it in the morning? Do you just do a towel wipe-down? I'm curious how Ayurveda deals with hygiene at the end of the day before going to sleep.

—Ayurveda recommends bathing in the morning, but if you’ve been sweating or working outdoors all day, you shouldn’t go to bed dirty. In the evening, take a short warm shower — not cold, not too long — just to remove sweat and dirt. Always wash the feet before bed. Avoid bathing right after meals. The key is gentle cleansing without cooling or exhausting the body.
