What to do for my husband's high cholesterol and hyper acidity despite medication? - #52926

My husband has high cholestrol(270), non hdl(226),ldl(186),tg(287),vldl(57.4),uric acid(7.73), alt/sgpt(79.7), ggt(51.6). All these are high though he had taken medicine before but still high. He has hyper acidity as well. Please suggest

Hello dear, It is quite common to see high cholesterol, elevated liver enzymes (ALT/GGT), and high uric acid occurring together - this is often a sign of a sluggish metabolism or “Metabolic Syndrome.” In Ayurveda, this is viewed as Medo Roga (disorder of fat tissue) combined with Amavisha (metabolic toxins) affecting the liver (Yakrit). ​The hyperacidity (Amlapitta) suggests that while we need to clear the fat, we must be careful not to use overly “hot” or spicy medicines that could irritate his stomach. I would suggest some dietary changes and regimens for this condition. Dietary & Lifestyle must-Dos : ​Drinking lukewarm water throughout the day helps “melt” Kapha (fat) and clears the channels. ​Avoid “Dahi” and Fermented Foods: Curd, pickles, and fermented batters (like Idli/Dosa) aggravate both hyperacidity and uric acid. Use Buttermilk (Takra) with a pinch of cumin instead. ​Dinner Timing: He should finish dinner by 7:30 PM. Late-night meals are the leading cause of high VLDL and Triglycerides, as the liver cannot process fats efficiently during sleep. ​Barley (Yava): Replace one meal (preferably dinner) with Barley water or Barley porridge. Barley is the best grain in Ayurveda for “scraping” fat and lowering uric acid. For proper medication and treatment you can consult me here.
