Hello. I feel lightheaded every day. Every time I go to bed at night I feel like if I was in a boat and I can feel the movement. Front and back. Could Ashwaganda and shankapushpi help with this or just one of them. Which yoga could I do to help my self to feel grounded and stable.

Hello, Your symptoms- daily lightheadedness+ boat like rocking at night- strongly point toward a vestibular imbalance pattern, not just simple weakness or stress From a modern view, this can resemble -Persistent postural perceptual dizziness-> rocking/swaying feeling (like a boat) -Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo-> worse on lying down/ turning in bed -General inner ear (vestibular) imbalance-> floating/ lightheaded feeling Ayurveda correlates this mainly with -vata prakopa (especially prana + vyana vata) -rajas (mind instability) -sometimes mild kapha obstruction in head channels Internal medications 1) Ashwagandhadhi lehyam= 1 tsp with warm milk twice daily after meals =nervous system stabiliser, reduces lightheadedness 2) Brahmi pearls capsule= 1 cap twice daily after meals First take only one -I advice to go with brahmi as it is more specific for your symptoms If symptoms are chronic more than 2 months-> combine both If anxiety/ sleep disturbance present -Manasmitra vatakam= 1 tab at bedtime =for night time rocking + overactive brain External therapies very important for your case This is where Ayurveda works best for boat feeling Daily at home -Ksheerbala taila =apply on scalp + soles before sleep, gentle massage 5-10 min -> directly calms vata in head Nasya= instill 2 drops of Anu taila in each nostril daily morning =these is highly effective for vestibular like symptoms Yoga for grounding most important part Focus= stability + slow head movement retraining Daily 10-15 min -Tadasana= improves balance awareness -vrikshasana= retrains vestibular system -balasana= calms nervous system -nadi sodhana pranayam = stabilizes brain signals Do slowly no jerky head movements Lifestyle corrections without this, medicines won’t fully work Follow -fixed sleep timing -warm, diet ghee, milk, cooked foods -stay hydrated (lightheadedness trigger) Avoid -excess screen scrolling major trigger for rocking sensation -late nights -sudden head movements Important Note (don’t ignore) because your symptoms are daily, you should still rule out -inner ear issue -blood pressure fluctuations -cervical/ neurological causes Especially if -symptoms worsening -associated with headache, vision issue, or falls Start Brahmi tablet + kssherbala oil massage -add ashwagandhadhi LEHYAM if weakness present do balance yoga daily avoid ovrstimualtion screens , stress Do follow Hope this might be helpful Thank you

Thank you very much for your long answer clarifying different scenarios. I have gone to traditional doctors and all the test are done and everything came back normal. It has been a long time of stress and grief which I feel that is why it has been so persistent this inner movement. I try the oil you recommend for my scalp and feet. Plus the ashwaghanda and brhami that all the doctors are suggesting. I have been doing yoga for over a year now and it has helped a lot but still feel the inner movement. Condition which you describe a due to imbalance of water dosa which governs your nervous system and equilibrium 1) Kalyanaka Kwath-15 ml with 45 ml lukewarm water twice daily before food 2) Ashwagandharishta- 20 ml with equal water twice daily after food 3) Saraswatarishtam- 15 ml with equal water at bedtime 3) Ksheerabala (101) Capsules- one capsule morning and night 4) Brahmi Ghritham- one teaspoon early morning empty stomach Grounding the body Massage the scalp with Brahmi oil for 10 minutes before bed Apply warm seaseme oil to your feet at night before sleep Practice yoga like tadasana vrikshasana balasana Maintain a strict Sleepwell cycle avoid using screen 1 over before bed Favor: Warm, freshly cooked meals with healthy fats (Ghee, Sesame oil). Root vegetables (carrots, beets, sweet potatoes) are excellent for grounding. Use warming spices like ginger, cumin, and cardamom. Avoid: Cold drinks, raw salads, dry snacks (crackers/popcorn), and excessive caffeine.

This often comes from nervous system sensitivity, stress, or subtle weakness, rather than a structural issue. Between the two, take Ashwagandha ½ tsp with warm milk at night as the primary support. It stabilizes the nervous system and reduces that floating or ungrounded feeling. You can add Shankhpushpi syrup 10 ml in the morning for mental calmness and clarity. For grounding, focus on slow and steady practices. Do Tadasana, Vrikshasana (tree pose), and Vajrasana, along with Anulom Vilom pranayama for 10–15 minutes daily. These improve balance, calm the mind, and reduce that moving sensation. Follow a grounding routine. Eat warm, regular meals, avoid long gaps, reduce screen time at night, and ensure good sleep. Applying a little warm sesame oil to the feet before bed helps significantly in calming Vata. With consistent practice, the lightheadedness and night-time movement sensation reduce gradually over 2–3 weeks as the nervous system stabilizes.
