In Ayurveda, this condition is closest to Vata Vyadhi (neuromuscular weakness) With Dhatukshaya (tissue depletion) + Ojas kshaya So treatment focuses on Strengthening nerves & muscles Reducing autoimmune reaction (indirectly) Improving strength (Balya + Rasayana) Take Ashwagandha Churna 3–5 g with milk, 2 times daily Bala + Ashwagandha Kwath – 15 ml twice daily Brahmi Ghrita 1 tsp morning empty stomach Yograj Guggulu 1 tab 2–3 times daily Ksheerabala 101 capsule/oil (internal) 5–10 drops with milk twice daily Helps nerve strength, fatigue, muscle weakness Panchakarma Best results come from therapies Abhyanga (oil massage) daily with Ksheerabala oil Shirodhara – reduces stress + neuromuscular fatigue Nasya (Anu taila / Ksheerabala) 2 drops each nostril daily Basti (medicated enema) most important for Vata disorder Basti is considered main treatment for Vata diseases Eye Support (for ocular symptoms) Triphala Ghrita 1 tsp at night Netra tarpana (in clinic) Palming + eye rest Diet Warm, nourishing diet Milk, ghee, almonds Avoid fasting dry, cold food stress + sleep deprivation Rasayana (Long-term) Chyawanprash – 1 tsp daily Amalaki Rasayana

Disease is autoimmune, so complete reversal is difficult Goal is reduce weakness prevent progression support immunity reduce steroid dependence gradually (under doctor)

The condition which you describe above is due to the water dominant disorders which affects your muscle tissue so our goal is to balance vata clear the toxins and provide rejuvenating support to the nerves and muscles 1) Dhanwantharam (101) Capsules- 1 Cap early morning 2) Maharasnadi Kashayam- 15 ml with 45 ml warm water- before breakfast before dinner 3) Ksheerabala (101) Capsules- 1 Cap after breakfast 4) Ashwagandharishta- 20 ml with equal water after dinner 5) Mahatriphala Ghritam- 1 tsp with warm milk at bed time 👇👇 Vata is cold and dry. Eat freshly cooked, warm meals. Avoid cold salads, frozen foods, or dry snacks (crackers/chips). Use Ghee (clarified butter) in your diet. Include bananas, sweet potatoes, and coconut water to support muscle contraction. Since MG can involve chewing fatigue, opt for “soft” proteins like lentils (Moong Dal), stewed fruits, and well-cooked grains. High stress triggers MG flares. Practice Pranayama (specifically Anulom Vilom) for 10-15 minutes daily to calm the nervous system. Use a warm compress over the eyes for 5 minutes to soothe ocular strain. Avoid excessive screen time which can aggravate Vata in the eyes. Sleep: Maintain a regular sleep-wake cycle.

Hello arun, It is completely understandable that you are looking for alternatives. Dealing with Myasthenia Gravis (MG) is challenging because of its fluctuating nature, and seeing a loved one rely heavily on steroids often leads to concerns about long-term side effects. In Ayurveda, Ocular Myasthenia Gravis is often correlated with Vata-Vyaadhi, specifically affecting the Netra (eyes) and Cheshta (movement). It is viewed as a condition where Vata Dosha is aggravated, leading to a loss of strength in the muscles and nerves. The goal is to provide Brimhana (nourishment) to the nerves and muscles while balancing the immune system. Since your father is already on steroids and Mestinon (Pyridostigmine), Ayurvedic treatment should be an adjunct (supportive) therapy. Never stop the steroids or Mestinon abruptly, as this can trigger a “Myasthenic Crisis.” Ayurveda can be used alongside these to potentially reduce dosage over time under medical supervision. Here is a concise plan using traditional formulations. These focus on neuro-muscular strength: 1. Ksheerabala (101) Capsules Action: Strengthens the nervous system and pacifies Vata. Dose: 1 capsule twice daily, after food with warm water. 2. Dhanwantharam Kwatham (Tablets) Action: A classic formula for neuro-muscular disorders and wasting. Dose: 2 tablets twice daily, 30 minutes before food. 3. Balarishta Action: A restorative tonic that improves muscle tone and energy. Dose: 20 ml mixed with 20 ml of lukewarm water, twice daily after food. 4. Anu Thailam (Nasya) Action: Nasal drops that specifically target conditions “above the clavicle” (eyes/head). Dose: 2 drops in each nostril every morning on an empty stomach. Clinical Reality Regarding your question about other patients: many practitioners see significant improvement in “ptosis” (drooping eyelids) and diplopia (double vision) when combining Panchakarma (specifically Snehana, Nasya, and Netra Tarpana) with modern medicine. Netra Tarpana (pooling medicated ghee over the eyes) is particularly effective for ocular symptoms.

Arun ji, I can truly understand your concern… when a condition like Myasthenia Gravis affects a parent, and especially when improvement feels limited despite steroids, it becomes emotionally very heavy. You’re doing the right thing by exploring all safe options. Let me be very clear and honest with you first: Ocular Myasthenia Gravis does not have a guaranteed permanent cure — neither in modern medicine nor in Ayurveda. But Ayurveda can play a supportive role in improving strength, reducing fluctuations, and possibly helping reduce dependency on steroids under proper supervision. Please take an appointment because ive to take history in detail
