It can cause abdominal pain, gas, constipation, and discomfort around the navel area. Usually it happens due to irregular diet, heavy lifting, or digestive weakness. With proper diet correction, light food, and Ayurvedic treatment/marma therapy under a trained practitioner, it can be managed effectively. —Simple exercises (Ayurveda-friendly) 1. Walking (best & safest) 15–30 minutes daily after meals (slow pace) 2. Pawanmuktasana (Gas release pose) Lie on back, bring one knee to chest, then both knees Helps release gas and reduce bloating 3. Vajrasana (post-meal posture) Sit on heels for 5–10 minutes after eating Improves digestion 4. Gentle deep breathing (Pranayama) Slow abdominal breathing for 5–10 minutes Or Anulom Vilom 5. Hello, In Ayurveda, the navel (Nabhi) is considered the center of the body’s energy (Prana) and the seat of Agni (digestive fire). Displacement, often called Nabhi Pariksha or Dharan, occurs when the Nabhi Chakra shifts due to physical strain, heavy lifting, or sudden movements.
​Since you are in Gurdaspur, I recommend visiting a local Ayurvedic Vaidya or a Marm-Chikitsa specialist for a physical “setting” of the navel, as manual alignment is the most effective first step. ​ ​Upward Shift: Causes acidity, gas, and heart palpitations. ​Downward Shift: Leads to loose motions and weakness.
​Side Shift: Causes sharp abdominal pain and bloating. ​Home Remedies ​ Lie on your back and apply warm mustard oil to the navel. Gently massage in a clockwise direction to stimulate the muscles.
​ The Naukasana (Boat Pose) or Pawanmuktasana (Wind-relieving Pose) helps pull the abdominal muscles back to the center.
​ A traditional method involves placing a small lamp (diya) on the navel, covering it with a glass to create a vacuum, which “pulls” the navel back into place (best done by an expert).
​ ​1. Ashta Choornam ​Purpose: Relieves gas, bloating, and ensures the “downward” movement (Anulomana) of Vata. ​Dose: 3 to 5 grams mixed with a little ghee or warm water twice daily before meals. ​2. Dhanwantharam Thailam ​Purpose: A classic oil for external abdominal massage to strengthen the muscles and soothe Vata. ​Application: Warm the oil and gently massage the navel area in a circular motion for 10 minutes before bathing.
​3. Abhayarishtam ​Purpose: A fermented tonic that improves gut motility and prevents the constipation that often causes re-displacement. ​Dose: 15 to 25 ml mixed with an equal amount of lukewarm water, twice daily after meals. ​4. Dasamoolarishtam ​Purpose: To relieve abdominal spasms and provide strength to the core muscles. ​Dose: 20 ml with equal water twice daily after meals.

First, understand this clearly: “Navel displacement (nabhi hilna)” is not a medically proven condition, but the symptoms you feel (pain, gas, irregular bowels) are usually due to digestive imbalance, muscle strain, or IBS-type issues. So treatment should focus on gut + abdominal muscle balance, not just “setting the navel”. What you can do: Avoid heavy lifting, sudden jerks, and irregular eating habits. Keep digestion strong: Eat warm, simple food. Avoid junk, cold drinks, and overeating. At home: Lie on your back and do gentle abdominal breathing Light yoga like Pawanmuktasana and Vajrasana helps You can apply warm castor oil on abdomen and do gentle clockwise massage. Hingvastak churna – ½ teaspoon with warm water before meals Avipattikar churna – ½ teaspoon at night These help regulate digestion and reduce symptoms. Important: If pain is persistent or severe, do basic tests (ultrasound, etc.) to rule out actual causes. Focus on digestion and muscle balance — that’s the real solution.
