Can Ayurveda help with recurring sebaceous cysts on my back after multiple surgeries? - #54230

I have a sebaceous/ epidermoid cyst in the centre of my upper back. For many years it did not trouble me. Then in September 2024 it got infected and had to be drained. I had it surgically removed in February 2025. The area took a long time to heal because it would get strained every time I did some physical work. I felt a bump again in the same spot in August or September 2025. This month, it got infected again and the surgeon said that the cyst had come back. I had it drained again 10 days ago. Can Ayurveda help with this issue? I am scared that if I have it removed it might reappear.

Recurring sebaceous (epidermoid) cysts are correlated with Granthi, mainly due to Kapha (blockage) + Pitta (infection/inflammation) imbalance and toxin accumulation (Ama). Yes — Ayurveda focuses on preventing recurrence, reducing infection, and improving skin healing. However, if the cyst capsule remains, complete removal may still be required. Ayurveda helps reduce chances of it coming back. Rx 1. Internal Medicines Kanchanar Guggulu – reduces cyst formation Kaishore Guggulu – purifies blood, controls infection Gandhak Rasayan – supports skin healing 2. External Care: Apply turmeric + neem paste (anti-inflammatory, antibacterial) Gentle cleansing; avoid pressure or friction on the area 3.
