Doctors' responses

Yes, small amount of ghee is usually okay if liver tests are normal now, but keep it limited. Use 1–2 teaspoons daily only Prefer homemade cow ghee Avoid fried, oily, heavy foods Avoid excess ghee if obesity, high cholesterol, active fatty liver, or digestion is weak. Ayurvedic support: Bhumi Amla Churna 3 grams twice daily with warm water Kutki Churna 1–2 grams at night after food Regular liver checkup advised due to past cirrhosis history.

Hello, In Ayurveda, ghee (clarified butter) is often viewed as a medicinal substance rather than just a fat, but its use in the context of liver health depends entirely on your “Agni” (digestive fire) and current metabolic state. Ghee is considered Lekhana (scraping) and Deepana (appetite-stimulating) when used correctly, which can theoretically help clear blockages. However, because you have a history of serious liver issues, Ayurveda classifies this as a Pitta-Kapha imbalance. While ghee is excellent for cooling Pitta, it is heavy and oily (Guru and Snigdha), which can aggravate Kapha and further “congest” a liver that has a history of fatty infiltration or scarring. Generally, it is safe only in very small, measured quantities (1–2 teaspoons), provided it is consumed with warm water or as part of a light meal to ensure it doesn’t settle as undigested toxins (Ama). Prescription : 1. Patolakaturohinyadi Kadha This is a potent liquid formulation used to detoxify the liver and balance Pitta. Dose: 15 ml mixed with 45 ml of lukewarm water, twice daily, 30 minutes before food. 2. Hiposem tablet A proprietary formulation specifically designed for liver rejuvenation and protection. Dose: 1 to 2 tablet twice daily after food. 3. Liv-Kottakkal (or similar Liver tonics) If looking for a general protective tonic. Dose: 10 ml twice daily before food.

small amounts of ghee can support digestion and nourishment when used moderately, especially if liver function is stable. But excess ghee and heavy oily foods may increase “Kapha” and strain the liver. Advise a balanced diet, light exercise, and moderation in fats, with regular medical follow-up for liver health. Only cow ghee prefer but in small amount

small amounts of pure cow’s ghee are generally considered beneficial because ghee supports digestion, nourishes tissues, and helps balance Vata and Pitta dosha. However, with a history of fatty liver and previous liver sclerosis/cirrhosis, moderation is very important. Since your recent liver tests are normal and you currently have no symptoms, a small quantity of ghee may be acceptable if: digestion is good, weight is controlled, and your doctor has not advised strict fat restriction. Ayurvedic Guidance Prefer pure cow ghee in very small amounts (about 1–2 tsp daily maximum). Take it with warm food rather than fried or heavy meals. Avoid combining ghee with: junk food, alcohol, excess sugar, deep fried foods. Helpful Diet for Liver Support Include: Warm light meals Green vegetables Turmeric, cumin, coriander Amla and bitter vegetables Adequate hydration Avoid: Heavy oily foods Processed foods Excess red meat Late-night eating Ayurvedic Liver Support Herbs herbs like: Bhumyamalaki Kutki Kalmegh Arogyavardhini Vati are traditionally used for liver health and metabolism.

Yes it is safe to eat ghee in fatty liver but it should be in less amount. 2 tsp ghee in the whole day will do no harm to your fatty liver.
