I have varicose veins on my both legs after using 2.5 years of antibiotics for MDR tb I got the varicose vein on my both legs I’m also an upsc aspirant who studies for long hours and getting disturbed of the studies because of these all

Varicose veins can indeed be troublesome, especially when you’re required to maintain prolonged periods of sitting, like during your UPSC preparation. This condition may have been exacerbated by previous antibiotic use and long hours of sedentary work. In Ayurveda, varicose veins are primarily understood through an imbalance in the Vata dosha and poor Rasa dhatu circulation. Here are some recommendations to help manage your condition:

1. Dietary Adjustments: Aim to consume more foods that are light, warm, and well-cooked. Incorporate a lot of leafy greens and fiber-rich vegetables to enhance circulation. Avoid excessively cold, dry, or spicy foods as they can aggravate Vata dosha imbalance. Dark berries and antioxidant-rich foods like amla (Indian gooseberry) can also support vascular health.

2. Herbal Remedies: Guggulu and Ashwagandha, known for their anti-inflammatory properties, may aid in strengthening the veins. Consider a regular intake of Triphala, a known Ayurvedic formulation to cleanse and support healthy circulation. Consult a local Ayurvedic practitioner for appropriate dosage and formulations.

3. Regular Movement: Set an alarm to remind yourself to stand up and stretch every 30-60 minutes. This will help reduce pressure in your veins and encourage blood flow. Try Tadasana (Mountain Pose) and Viparita Karani (Legs-Up-the-Wall Pose) to promote healthy blood flow in your legs.

4. Abhyanga (Oil Massage): Perform a gentle daily self-massage using warm sesame or olive oil. Focus on upward strokes from feet to thighs to stimulate circulation. This should be done carefully if your veins are sensitive or painful, and avoided in acutely infected areas.

5. Hydration and Rest: Ensure you drink plenty of water through the day as adequate hydration supports the flushing of toxins and better circulation. Try to develop a routine where you have sufficient rest and don’t compromise on your sleep.

If your varicose veins become painful or if you notice significant swelling, discoloration, or ulcers, it’s essential to reach out for immediate medical attention. Yoga combined with these Ayurvedic interventions might gradually lead to improvements, but it is important to keep monitoring the condition closely.
