HELLO, PAD means that blood flow to the legs is reduced because the arteries supplying the legs have become narrow or blocked. When you walk, leg muscles need more oxygen. Due to reduced blood flow, muscles do not get enough oxygen, causing pain while walking, which improves on rest This Pain is called claudication WHY DID THIS HAPPEN? Overtime, due to factors like -poor diet -lack of exercise -diabetes, high cholestrol -smoking -stress ang aging Fatty material slowly gets deposited inside arteries. This makes blood thick and flow sluggish In Ayurveda, PAD is mainly due to -VATA DOSHA-> pain, stiffness, reduced circulation -KAPHA DOSHA-> blockage, heaviness -RAKTA AND MEDA DHATU-> impure blood and excess fat -SROTORODHA-> blocked channels of circulation SIMPLE -blood is not flowing freely + channels are blocked+ nerves and muscles are undernourished IS SURGERY ALWAYS NEEDED? NO In early to moderate PAD (like your case- pain on walking, no ulcers/gangrene), non-surgical treatment is preferred first Ayurveda cannot remove a hard plaque completely, but it can -improve circulation -reduce blood thickness -reduce pain -increase walking distance -slow or stop disease progression -delay or avoid bypass surgery TREATMENT GOALS -improve blood flow to legs -reduce arterial blockage tendency -reduce pain and walking discomfort -improve muscle nutrition -prevent worsening and complication -improve overalll metabolic health INTERNAL MEDICATIONS 1) KAISHOR GUGGULU= 2 tabs twice daily after meals for 6 months =reduces inflammation in blood vessels, improves circulation, helps in removing blockages, useful in chronic vascular condition 2) PUNARNAVADI GUGGULU= 2. tabs twice daily after meals for 3 months =clears obstruction In channels, improves blood movement, reduces swelling and heaviness in legs 3) ARJUNARISHTA= 20 ml with equal water twice daily after meals for 3 months =strenthens blood vessels, improves arterial elasticity, supports heart and circulation 4) TRIPHALA CHURNA= 1 tsp at bedtime with warm water =improves digestion and metabolism, reduces cholestrol tendency, prevents toxin accumulation 5) LASUNADI VATI= 1 tab in morning = natural blood thinner, reduces cholestrol, improves arterial flexibility EXTERNAL THERAPIES 1) OIL MASSAGE= SAHACHARADI TAILA -gentle massage of legs from feet upwards -20-30 min -daily or at least 4-5 times/week =improves local circulation, reduces stiffness and pain, pacifies vata dosha 2) HOT FOMENTATION -after oil massage -mild steam to legs =opens blocked channels, relieves pain and heaviness YOGA ASANAS -pawanmuktasana -tadasana -vajrasana -viparita karani (legs up the wall) ->Improves venous return and circulation PRANAYAM -Anulom vilom= 10-15 min -Bhramari= calming, stress reduction -Deep diaphragmatic. breathing LIFESTYLE CHANGES -Daily walking- stop at pain, rest, walk again -avoid sitting cross legged for long -do not expose legs to cold -maintain ideal body weight -sleep on Time, reduces stress Smoking/tobacco must be stopped completely - otherwise treatment will fail DIET -Warm, freshly cooked meals -garlic, turmeric, ginger -green vegetables -barely, oats -warm water sipping AVOID -fried, junk food -bakery items -excess sugar -red meat -cold drink HOME REMEDIES -Garlic + warm water In morning -Turmeric milk at night -Mustard oil massage -warm foot soak DURATION AND EXPECTATIONS -Pain reduction= 4-8 weeks -better walking distance- 2-3 months -stabilization= 6-12 months PAD is chronic, but manageable with discipline Your condition is serious but not hopeless. At this stage, with correct Ayurvedic treatment, lifestyle correction, and regular walking, surgery can often be delayed or avoided. Ayurveda works slowly but deeply. consistency is the key DO FOLLOW HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL THANK YOU DR. MAITRI ACHARYA

-PAD is a condition where the arteries in your legs get narrowed due to atherosclerosis (plaque buildup). This reduces blood flow to your legs, causing pain while walking (called intermittent claudication). -Ayurvedic treatments may help in: Improving circulation Reducing inflammation Supporting cardiovascular health -Internal Medicines 1)Arjuna tablets: 250 mg, twice daily after meals (strengthens heart and improves circulation) 2)Guggulu tablets: 250 mg, twice daily after meals (reduces inflammation and supports arteries) 3)Ashwagandha tablets: 500 mg, once daily before bedtime (reduces stress and improves circulation) 4)Triphala powder: 1 tsp at night with warm water (supports digestion and detoxification) -External Therapies Daily oil massage of the whole body with medicinal oil (improves circulation) Daily foot massage with warm oil (relieves leg pain) Optional: Stress-reducing therapies 2–3 times/week Daily warm compress or steam on legs (helps with walking pain) -Diet Eat light, warm, and easily digestible meals Include green vegetables, fruits, whole grains, flax seeds, almonds Avoid fried foods, excessive oil, red meat, and sugar Drink warm water or herbal teas (like ginger, cinnamon, or tulsi) -Lifestyle & Exercise Walk daily until mild leg pain, rest, then repeat; gradually increase distance Avoid sitting or standing for long periods Practice gentle yoga for legs and circulation -Follow-Up Reassess every 4 weeks for improvement Seek immediate medical attention if pain worsens, ulcers appear, or legs feel cold/numb - consult with neurologist also at this time along with allopathic treatment continue

Hello I get that you’re worried about bypass surgery and are hoping Ayurveda might be a safer, more natural solution. PAD can be scary, but for many people, especially in the early to mid stages, Ayurveda can be a big help. Done right and early enough, it might even let you skip surgery. What’s PAD in Ayurveda terms? PAD = when the arteries in your legs get narrow or blocked. and it’s caused by: – Kapha (like cholesterol buildup) – Meda (fat) – Ama (think sticky gunk) – Vata (causing pain and spasms) So, PAD isn’t just about your blood vessels; it’s more like a mix of metabolic and circulation problems. Can you treat PAD sans surgery? Yes usually if: – You only feel pain when you walk – No gangrene or blackening – No ulcers that won’t heal – Blood flow is down, but not totally cut off You’re in what’s called the intermittent claudication stage, which can be turned around. You only really need a bypass if: – You’re in tons of pain even when resting – You’ve got gangrene – Tissue is dying – The artery is totally blocked What Ayurveda does for PAD –Clears out cholesterol and plaque –Thins out thick blood
–Gets the tiny blood vessels open
–Stops more blockages from forming Surgery can’t do that – it just makes a detour. AYURVEDIC PLAN OF TREATMENT Artery-Clearing Medication 1. Guggulu Tiktaka Kashayam 2 tsp twice a day with warm water 2 Kanchanar Guggulu: 2 tabs twice a day 3. Triphala Guggulu 2 tabs twice a day 4. Arjuna churna: ½ tsp twice a day Blood-Flow Boosters 5 Punarnava Mandur 1 tab twice a day 6. Gokshuradi Guggulu 2 tabs twice a day These help with: – Leg circulation – Pain when walking – Cold feeling – Numbness PANCHAKARMA The real game-changer is: Basti therapy (a medicated enema) Especially: – Dashamoola Basti – Tikta Ksheera Basti This gets rid of: – Cholesterol in your blood – Vata spasms in your arteries – Deep circulation blockages It’s this that can help you dodge surgery. DIET PLAN AVOID – Oil – Ghee – Milk – Sugar –White rice – Fried stuff INCLUDE – Barley – Millets – Garlic – Ginger – Veggies –Warm water –PAD can be treated and sometimes reversed using natural methods – Often, surgery can be skipped – But you’ve got to stick to the plan with Panchakarma and meds Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate

1.Lasuna tablets 1 tab twice daily with water after meals 2.Triphala guggulu 2 tab twice daily with water after meals 3.Punarnava churna 3/4 tsp twice daily with water after meals 4.Arjunarishta 20 ml with 20 ml water twice daily after meals 5.Ashwagandha capsules 1 cap twice daily with warm milk after meals 🧘 Lifestyle & Yoga - Walking therapy: Short, repeated walks improve collateral circulation. - Yoga: Tadasana, Pawanmuktasana, Vajrasana, Pranayama (Anulom Vilom). - Diet: Avoid fried/oily foods, increase green vegetables, garlic, turmeric, flaxseed. - Detox: Panchakarma (like Virechana and Basti) may be recommended for clearing Ama. ⚠️ Important Risks & Considerations - PAD can progress to gangrene if untreated. Ayurveda is supportive, not a replacement for urgent medical care. - If pain worsens or wounds don’t heal, immediate vascular consultation is necessary. - Combining Ayurveda with modern monitoring (Doppler, lipid profile, HbA1c) is safest.
