For 67-year-old with BPH symptoms (hesitancy, nocturia), current regimen is correct but needs strengthening + urinary channel support. Take Gokshuradi Guggulu 2 tablets 2 times daily after food Varunadi Kashayam 15 ml + 15 ml water 2 times daily before food Punarnava Mandur 1 tablet 2 times daily after food (useful if mild prostate congestion or fluid retention) Dashamoola Kashayam 15 ml + 15 ml water 2 times daily before food (for pelvic inflammation and bladder tone) Continue Chandraprabha Vati 2 tablets morning and evening Key advice Reduce evening fluids after 7 pm Avoid tea, coffee at night Do not hold urine Warm water sitz bath at night helps nocturia
Thanks Dr. Now I am taking prostate tablets 2 morning and 2 evening. 1 tablet chandra prabha vati morning and evening. Tea reduced to 1 cup evening. Daily morning wali 4 to 5 km. Thanks ask ayurveda and doctor.
••Pranam. At 67 years of age, experiencing difficulty in initiating urination (hesitancy) and frequent waking up at night (nocturia) are classic manifestations of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH).
••Refining and Enhancing Your Medicinal Protocol
Optimize Current Medicines
Chandraprabha Vati: Continue 2 tablets (500 mg) twice daily.
Kanchanar Guggulu: The standard therapeutic dose for reducing glandular hypertrophy is typically 2 tablets (500 mg to 1g) twice daily rather than one.
Anupana (Vehicle): Take both of these after meals with lukewarm water.
Suggested Ayurvedic Additions
To specifically clear the urinary pathway (Srotorodh) and reduce the volume of the prostate, consider incorporating the following under clinical supervision:
Varunadi Kwath (or Varunadi Kashayam):
Why: Varuna (Crataeva nurvala) is the premier Ayurvedic herb for prostate and bladder health. It has proven anti-proliferative properties that help retard the growth of the prostate and improve urinary flow rate.
Dosage: 15–20 ml of the liquid decoction mixed with an equal quantity of lukewarm water, taken on an empty stomach in the morning and evening (about 1 hour before meals).
Gokshuradi Guggulu:
Why: If hesitance and dribbling persist, replacing or alternating Kanchanar with Gokshuradi Guggulu can be highly effective. Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris) is a specific rejuvenator (Rasayana) for the urinary system, lowering post-void residual urine.
Dosage: 2 tablets twice daily after meals.
2. Essential Dietary & Lifestyle Interventions (Vihar)
Medicines work optimally only when the lifestyle prevents further vitiation of Apana Vayu.
Regulate Fluid Intake Timing: Maintain adequate hydration during the day, but strictly limit water and fluid intake after 7:00 PM. This simple change drastically reduces nocturia (nighttime urination).
Avoid Bladder Irritants: Minimize or entirely avoid caffeine, alcohol, and excessively spicy, dry (Ruksha), or astringent foods, as they aggravate Vata and irritate the urothelial lining.
Never Suppress the Urge: Forcing yourself to hold urine (Vegadharana) heavily deranges Apana Vayu and stretches the bladder wall, worsening hesitancy.
Warm Sitz Bath (Avagaha Sweda): Sitting in a tub of warm water up to your waist for 10–15 minutes before bed relaxes the pelvic floor muscles, calms Vata, and eases nighttime voiding.
