Chest pain that comes on suddenly and briefly, along with nausea, congestion, and pain extending to the neck and shoulders might trigger worry, especially if concerns about the heart arise. It’s reassuring your ECG results were normal, and your physician has advised you not to worry. Yet, understanding these symptoms from an Ayurvedic perspective offers another layer of insight.

According to Ayurveda, such symptoms could reflect an imbalance in Vata dosha, particularly Prana Vata in the upper body regions where the mind and heart connection is significant. Muscular tension from stress or anxiety could contribute to this fleeting pain. Accumulation of ama (toxins) might also cause these manifestations, leading to a feeling of congestion or stiffness around the heart and shoulder regions. Digestive issues can play a role as well, particularly a compromised agni (digestive fire) leading to nausea.

To address this, manage stress and anxiety through calming practices like slow-paced Pranayama, spending time for deep breathing exercises especially in the morning or before bed, to stabilize Prana Vata. Consider adding herbs like Ashwagandha or Brahmi to your routine, in consultation with a healthcare provider, to promote calmness and relieve anxiety.

For dietary measures, focus on warm, light, and easy-to-digest meals. Try turmeric and ginger teas to support digestion and reduce inflammation. Avoid excessive cold, oily, or heavy foods that can aggravate Vata and increase ama. Eating three regular meals helps regulate digestion and maintain balance.

Practicing gentle yoga, focusing on heart-opening postures can alleviate tension from the shoulders and neck as well. Remind yourself to maintain good posture throughout the day.

If symptoms persist or worsen, continue to pursue further medical consultation. The heart is a delicate organ, and all precautionary steps should be prioritized. But for now, incorporating these Ayurvedic steps can aid in alleviating your discomfort.
