Hello Thanks for sharing your concerns. I really appreciate that you are doing well post your stomach surgery. However, the fact that you are underweight despite you having a good appetite and protein intake makes me think that your Agni (digestive & metabolic fire) is still at the recovery stage in a deeper way.
The body goes through the process of restoration of digestion, absorption, and Dhatu formation - particularly Mamsa (muscle) and Meda (healthy fat) - after the surgery on the abdomen.
✅Ayurvedic Understanding of Your Condition
Most probably Agni and Rasadhatu are still affected even after surgery has healed.
The post-operative period of the abdominal surgeries may be accompanied by: Vata aggravation - poor tissue nourishment Rasa & Mamsa Dhatu kshaya - difficulty gaining weight A good appetite does not necessarily imply that assimilation is also good.
Therefore, the work is to: Deepen Agni then strengthen digestion and enhance Dhatu formation so it will finally lead to healthy weight gain safely
✅ Are You Allowed to Take Ayuvya Weight Gain Supplement?
If your digestion is strong, then you can take it but keep in mind the following: ✔️ Normally it does not bring side effects
Yet weight gain is not just a matter of protein powders
✔️ Ayurvedic system of medicine is very clear that Pachana + Deepana + Brimhana are the key points rather than just supplementation In most cases, commercial supplements barely work if the person has not fixed his/her Vata and Agni imbalances first.
✅INTERNAL MEDICATION
👉 Brimhana (Weight-building) Medicines 1. Ashwagandha Lehyam – 1 tsp twice daily after meals 2. Shatavari Kalp – 1 tsp with warm milk at bedtime 3. Drakshasava – 15 ml with equal water after lunch and dinner (boosts appetite + absorption)
If digestion is weak: One should take Pippali Churna 1–2 pinch with ghee once a day for 15 days.
✅DIET MODIFICATION
The importance of your diet cannot be compared to that of a supplement.
Best foods to rebuild muscle & healthy fat Warm milk + ghee (daily) Khichadi with ghee Moong dal soup Rice + ghee + soft-cooked vegetables Almonds soaked overnight (6–8) Dates (2–3 per day) Banana milkshake (not at night) Sweet potato, pumpkin, beetroot Paneer, homemade curd, ghee Dal + rice + ghee — perfect for Mamsa Dhatu Wheat chapati with ghee Mutton soup (if non-veg)
❌Foods to definitely avoid
Raw salads Very spicy food Skipping meals Dry foods (increase Vata) Packed protein powders
✅Lifestyle Advice Sleep 7–8 hours Light yoga — Bhujangasana, Vajrasana, Setubandhasana Do not over-exercise Oil massage with Balaashwagandhadi Taila daily for 10–15 min is a great way to Dhatu poshana
