●Jatamansi Kwath (Mind and Nerve Calming) Method: Jatamansi powder – 1/2 teaspoon, water – 1 cup, boil and strain until 1/2 cup remains. Consumption: How it works (Ayurvedic reasoning): Jatamansi is a mental and nerve-soothing. It calms the intensity of the Udana Vayu (airborne air), which reduces palpitations, restlessness, and blood pressure fluctuations. ●Brahmi + Shankhapushpi Method: Brahmi powder - 2 teaspoons Shankhapushpi powder - 1 teaspoon with lukewarm water Empty stomach in the morning How it works: This combination calms the Rajas, stabilizes the mind and reduces mental stress on the nervous system. In Ayurveda, it works on the mental causes of high blood pressure. ●Method: Morning on an empty stomach. Ayurvedic Effects: Arjuna Bark (Heart Strength) Arjuna Bark Powder - 2 teaspoons. Boil 1 cup of water. Strain until 1/2 cup remains. Dosage: Arjuna is heart-strengthening, strong, and vascular. It strengthens the heart muscles and helps maintain the elasticity of the arteries. ●Coriander Seed Water Soak 1 teaspoon of coriander seeds in water overnight. Strain and drink in the morning. Ayurvedic effects: Coriander is a bile-suppressant and diuretic. It balances excess body heat and fluid imbalances.
High blood pressure (known in Ayurveda as Rakta Gata Vata or Uchcha Rakta Chapa) is viewed as an imbalance where aggravated Vata and Pitta doshas disturb the flow of blood through the channels (Srotas). While Kerala Ayurveda offers potent formulations, it is critical to understand that blood pressure medication should never be stopped abruptly. This can lead to a dangerous “rebound effect.” The goal of Ayurveda is to strengthen the system so that your body eventually requires less chemical intervention, but this transition must be monitored by a physician. In Ayurveda, hypertension is not just a heart issue; it is often linked to: Vata: Causes constriction of blood vessels and irregular heart rhythms. Pitta: Leads to inflammation and “heat” in the circulatory system. Manas (Mind): Stress and anxiety are primary drivers of pressure spikes. Start the following medicines from now… 1. Cardimap Tablets This is a primary formulation for hypertension. It combines Sarpagandha (Rauwolfia serpentina) with Brahmi and Shankhapushpi to lower blood pressure while managing the underlying stress. Dose: 1 tablet twice daily, approximately 30 minutes after food. 2. Parthadyarishtam (Arjunarishta) A liquid fermented preparation where the main ingredient is Arjuna bark, the premier Ayurvedic cardio-protective herb. It strengthens the heart muscles and improves blood circulation. Dose: 15 ml to 25 ml mixed with an equal quantity of lukewarm water, twice daily after meals. 3. Kalyanaka Ghritam If your high blood pressure is driven by high stress or “Vata” (anxiety/insomnia), a medicated ghee can help ground the nervous system. Dose: 1 teaspoon on an empty stomach in the morning with warm water. 4. Brahmi Vati Used specifically if your hypertension is accompanied by a racing mind or poor sleep. Dose: 1 tablet at bedtime with warm milk or water. Important Clinical Guidance Since you have been on two tablets twice a day for two years, your body has a high dependency on those chemical compounds. To safely integrate Ayurveda, follow these steps: The Tapering Method: Do not replace your current medicine immediately. Start the Ayurvedic supplements alongside your current allopathic treatment. After 4–6 weeks of consistent monitoring, if your readings are consistently low/normal, a doctor can help you gradually “taper” (reduce) the allopathic dose. The “Sarpagandha” Factor: Kerala Ayurveda’s products often contain Sarpagandha. While effective, it can occasionally cause nasal congestion or lethargy. If you experience these, the dosage needs adjustment. Dietary Support: Reduce Lavana (salt) and Katu (spicy) foods. Increase Tikta (bitter) vegetables like bitter gourd, which help purify the blood.
Minimize use of salt. Avoid oily spicy and processed foods. Regular exercise and meditation. Increase intake of raw vegetables and fruits. Tab.Arjin 2-0-2
First, ayurveda cannot be used as a direct substitute for your current allopathic blood pressure medicine, especially when your readings are in stage 2 hypertension. stopping or replacing your current medicine on your own can be risky. Both systems work differently. allopathic medicine controls blood pressure quickly and protects you from complications like stroke or heart disease. Ayurveda focuses on identifying and correcting the root cause, which in most cases is related to lifestyle imbalance, stress, diet, and dosha vitiation (mainly vata and pitta). since you have been on medication for more than 2 years and still have elevated readings, your condition is more chronic and requires a combined and gradual approach. what should be done in your case 1. Do not stop your current medicine continue your prescribed tablets regularly. any reduction should only be done under supervision of your physician after consistent improvement. 2. Understand the ayurvedic approach in ayurveda, hypertension is not a single disease but a result of imbalance involving: * vata (especially for variability and stress component) * pitta (for intensity and pressure) * rakta dushti So treatment focuses on: * correcting agni * reducing stress and vata aggravation * improving circulation and calming the system 3. Lifestyle correction is the main treatment this is more important than medicines in the long run. * Maintain a fixed daily routine (dinacharya) * Ensure proper sleep (before 11 pm) * Avoid excessive screen time and mental strain * Continue stress management, but make it more structured (pranayama, meditation) 4. Diet regulation even if your diet is balanced, it must be ayurveda-compatible: * Reduce excess salt, sour, spicy, and fried food * Avoid processed and packaged items * Take freshly cooked, warm meals * Include foods like lauki, parwal, moong dal, old rice, garlic in moderation * Avoid overeating 5. Physical activity * Regular walking (at least 30 minutes daily) * Mild yoga (especially shavasana, anulom vilom, bhramari) * Avoid very intense workouts if bp is not controlled 6. Aole of ayurvedic medicines some classical medicines and therapies may help support management, but they are not immediate replacements. they work gradually over time to stabilize the system. 7. Panchakarma and supervised care for long-term benefit, you should consult a good ayurvedic physician and, if possible, undergo planned therapies like: * shirodhara (for stress and vata control) * virechana (in selected cases) This requires proper assessment and commitment. final understanding your goal should not be to suddenly replace allopathic medicine. instead, aim for: * gradual improvement in blood pressure readings * reduction in stress and root causes * eventual dose reduction only under medical supervision with disciplined lifestyle and proper ayurvedic support, many patients are able to reduce their dependency over time, but this is a slow and monitored process, not an immediate switch.
