I took several home pregnancy tests, and they all came back positive, so I made an appointment with my doctor to confirm the pregnancy. However, after some tests, the doctor told me that I’m not actually pregnant, but rather I’m experiencing a false pregnancy. I’ve never heard of this before, and I’m feeling confused and unsure about what to expect. From what I understand, false pregnancy (or pseudocyesis) is a condition where someone exhibits pregnancy symptoms without actually being pregnant. How is this possible? Could my body be tricking itself into thinking I’m pregnant? Why does it happen, and what are the main causes of false pregnancy? My doctor said that false pregnancy can occur due to hormonal imbalances or psychological factors, but I’m wondering if it’s more common in women who have a strong desire to be pregnant.
