Hi rashmi,

It sounds like you’re dealing with a variety of headache symptoms that could be related to a Vata-Pitta imbalance. Can you tell me if your headaches worsen with stress, lack of sleep, or certain foods, like spicy or hot foods? Also, does the headache come with any digestive issues or irritability?

For your condition, Ayurveda recommends Nasya with Anu Taila or Ksheer Bala Taila to balance both Vata and Pitta doshas. These oils are specifically designed to calm the nervous system and reduce inflammation, helping with your type of headaches.

Indukanta Ghrit is a good choice, but you might also benefit from using Brahmi oil or Saraswatarishta internally for improved cognitive function and to reduce Vata aggravation. Along with this, a calming, Pitta-pacifying diet and lifestyle are essential. Keep your routine regular, avoid excess heat, and engage in calming activities like meditation.

It sounds like your headaches are quite varied, and since your prakriti is primarily pitta with some vata influence, we should consider a balanced approach to calm both doshas. The nasya treatment you’re using is a good start, however, it’s a bit tricky without knowing your full health background. But for headaches that stem from vata and pitta imbalances, Anu Taila is generally quite beneficial.

Anu Taila is medicated oil often recommended for nasya, especially when symptoms include vertigo, dizziness, and headaches involving the brow area. It helps to pacify both vata and pitta and can be used regularly. Try putting 2-3 drops of the oil in each nostril daily in the morning, especially during cooler times when Kapha is less likely to aggravate. Lie down comfortably on your bed with your head positioned slightly lower than your body for better absorption.

Additionally, focusing on dietary habits could also be beneficial. Since pitta is predominant, consuming cooling, grounding foods that are less spicy and oily could help. Foods like coconut, cucumber, and coriander leaf can cool body. Avoid fermented and fried foods as they can aggravate pitta. Stay hydrated and try herbal teas like chamomile or licorce, which can be soothing for headaches.

At the same time, regular lifestyle practices can keep the dosha in check. Incorporating yoga and pranayama, especially practices like shitali pranayama, can be quite helpful for your condition.

Remember, consistent practices with diet, lifestyle, and treatment often give the best results. Keep a check on how your body responds and adjust accordingly. If your condition intensifies or doesn’t improve, it might be wise to seek further consultation with an Ayurvedic physician who can provide you a more thorough examination.
