Experiencing a burning sensation and heaviness in your breast around the time of your period can be unsettling. In Ayurveda, such symptoms could relate to an imbalance of Pitta dosha, which governs heat and transformation in the body.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, managing this burning sensation involves cooling down the Pitta dosha. You might consider incorporating more cooling foods into your diet like cucumbers, melons, ripe fruits, and leafy greens. Drinking herbal teas like chamomile or peppermint can also be soothing and help reduce any aggravated heat.

Applying a cool compress to the area may alleviate the burning sensation temporarily. One could also use a gentle massage with coconut oil, which has natural cooling properties.

Now, addressing your concern about hormone balance as you approach menopause, Ayurveda can offer holistic support. You might find Ashwagandha and Shatavari helpful as they are known to support hormonal balance and overall well-being during this transition. It’s often recommended to take these herbs in a powdered form, mixing about a teaspoon in warm milk or water, twice a day. However, it’s always beneficial to consult with a practitioner before starting any herbal regime.

Practicing yoga or gentle breathing exercises can also be beneficial in balancing hormones and aiding a smoother transition through menopause. Pranayama, specifically Chandrabhedi, is beneficial for cooling and calming the system. Practicing it for about 5-10 minutes each day could be advantageous.

Maintaining regularity in your daily routine, prioritizing adequate rest and sleep, and keeping stress levels under control are also crucial in managing hormonal changes.

If symptoms persist or become severe, it’s wise to consult with a healthcare professional to rule out any underlying conditions. Ayurveda offers beautiful support for women during phases such as menopause, but it should complement and not replace the essential medical guidance when needed.
