Neuropathy can really be a difficult road, I can imagine how frustrating this must be. Chronic pain that doesn’t seem to improve is its own kind of suffering. So first thing, Ayurveda can be a supportive approach but remember, it’s a complementary system, not replacement for necessary urgent care. If the pain’s unbearable, might need to talk with a doc about it.

That said, in Ayurveda, neuropathy is often linked with Vata dosha imbalances — it governs movement and the nervous system. An aggravated Vata makes nerves less stable, causing pain and tingling. We’ll focus on calming Vata and strengthening nerves.

2 key herbs to consider: Ashwagandha and Brahmi. Ashwagandha can nourish nerves, relieve stress; Brahmi helps with cognitive functions, calming the mind. You can take about 500 mg of each daily, possibly as a capsule or powder mixed with warm milk.

Your diet should be grounding and warm to calm Vata. Prioritize foods like sweet, sour, and salty tastes. Kitchari, a combination of rice and mung dal, is quite balancing. Avoid raw foods, as they increase Vata. In fact, cooked veggies are a win: try sweet potatoes, squash, carrots.

Start your day with a warm glass of water with honey and a sprinkle of fresh ginger, it warms the system and aids digestion.

Massage feet and calves with sesame oil before bed for 15 min. It’s soothing for Vata, also aiding circulation. Follow up with a warm soak, maybe add a little ginger.

Restfulness is key, sleep restores balance. So chill music, gentle yoga - particularly forward bends, legs-up-the-wall pose can ease discomfort. Slow, gentle breathing practices like Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) can also calm Vata.

If nothing changes, check it again with a healthcare provider. Pain needs to be heard, sometimes our bodies use it to shout.
