Both foot have a burninh sensation for last three years. - #22914

Bottom of both foot have a burning sensation for last three years. Examination revealed neuropathy and taking medicines as prescribed by Doctors but no result. Male age 61 years. Is there any cure? What to do?

Age: 61
Chronic illnesses: Thyroid problem.

Burning sensation in the feet, especially when identified as neuropathy, is indeed a challenging condition. From an Ayurvedic perspective, this condition might be related to imbalances in the Vata and Pitta doshas. Healthy fats are beneficial for nerve health, so consider adding sesame oil or ghee to your meals. It’s recommended to consume warm and easily digestible foods, as they support digestive fire (Agni). Steamed vegetables and soups can be ideal.

Herbs like Ashwagandha and Brahmi can be supportive, as they are known for their strengthening and rejuvenating properties on the nervous system. You might take these as powders, consumed with warm water or milk, but it’s best to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner for proper dosage.

Daily lifestyle practices also play a big role, aiming at a balanced routine that’s not too demanding – avoid excessive stress and take adequate rest. Consider gentle exercises like walking or yoga, which can help in improving circulation and reducing stress.

Regular self-massage with warm, medicated oils such as Mahanarayan oil can help soothe the affected area. Apply the oil in a warm state and gently massage your feet, preferrably in the evening.

Meditation and breathing exercises like Pranayama may help in calming the mind and reducing any related stress or anxiety. To further aid in reducing the sensation, foot baths with warm water and Epsom salt may provide relief.

However, since you’ve mentioned neuropathy, it’s important to continue monitoring this condition closely with a healthcare professional, as Ayurvedic treatments can complement, but should never replace, essential medical treatments or interventions.
