Cervical spondylosis, often resulting in tingling sensations or discomfort in the shoulder and back, ties back to vata dosha imbalances in Ayurveda. This condition involves wear and tear affecting the cervical vertebrae and discs, creating pain and such sensations. Balancing vata through diet, lifestyle, and treatments can help alieviate symptoms.

First thing first, maintaining proper posture is essential to reducing strain on the cervical spine. Ensure your workspace is ergonomically designed: your computer screen should be at eye level to avoid bending your neck. Take breaks every hour if possible, to stretch and relax your muscles—reducing tension build-up.

Dietary wise, favor warm, nourishing foods that help lubricate the joints and support tissue health. Include ghee, warm milk, nuts, and seeds in your diet. Avoid cold, dry foods and excessive caffeine or alcohol, as they can aggravate vata dosha. You might also find benefit in herbal teas with ginger and ashwagandha, which can calm the nervous system.

Consider daily self-abhyanga (self-massage), using warm sesame oil. Gently massage the affected areas, particularly the neck and shoulders, before taking a warm bath or shower for improved circulation and muscle relaxation. This is time-tested practice for reducing stiffness and calming nervous tension.

Including gentle yoga and guided pranayama exercises like nadi shodan (alternate nostril breathing) can greatly benefit. They improve flexibility and help to align musculo-skeletal balance. Regular practice along with meditation can assist in managing stress levels, supporting both physical and mental health.

Consult with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner or physician before starting any new treatment, especially if symptoms persist or worsen. They can conduct a tailored approach based on your unique constitution and condition.

Cervical spondylosis often leads to discomfort due to the wear and tear of cervical spine due to repetitive motion or prolonged positions. The symptoms you’re describing, such as the twingling sensation and pain in your shoulder and back, point towards possible nerve irritation. In Siddha-Ayurveda, this is typically linked with a Vata imbalance and blockages in the energy pathways in your body. It’s important to first address any severe symptoms with a healthcare provider, as nerve-related issues must be closely monitored.

For a holistic approach, consider making a few practical changes: Firstly, incorporate gentle neck exercises and stretching into your daily routine. Cervical rotations and tilting can enhance flexibility and relieve nerve pressure. Such exercises should be done with care, avoiding overexertion.

Herbal remedies can support your healing journey. A regular warm oil massage using sesame oil or mahanarayan tailam can pacify Vata and soothe muscles. An application of a warm herbal pouch (pottali) of dried ginger and turmeric on the affected areas can promote circulation and reduce inflammation.

Modify your work habits by taking frequent short breaks to avoid strain. Ensure your workspace is ergonomically friendly; the computer screen should be at eye level to reduce neck strain.

Finally, focus on maintaining a balanced diet that nourishes your dhatus (tissue systems). Include warm, cooked foods that are easy to digest and avoid cold or raw foods which can aggravate Vata. Always tailor diet to your personal constitution.

While these steps offer potential relief, consistency is key in Ayurveda. Persistent or worsening symptoms warrant additional medical consultation to prevent complications. Your well-being is best served by blending both traditional and modern medical insights.
