For your situation, addressing both lightheadedness and insomnia from an Ayurvedic perspective involves considering the doshas that might be imbalanced—particularly Vata, as it governs movement and the nervous system. Cervical spine disc bulges might contribute to Vata imbalance leading to the symptoms you’ve reported. Here’s a strategy that you can adopt:

First, consider dietary adjustments, as these are central to balancing Vata. Incorporate warm, nourishing foods into your meals. Opt for cooked vegetables, warm grains like quinoa or rice, and soups. Including healthy fats like ghee or sesame oil can be beneficial in calming Vata. Avoid cold, raw, or dry foods and drinks which can aggravate the condition further.

Herbal support is another key aspect. Ashwagandha is a versatile herb known for reducing stress, calming the nervous system, and promoting sound sleep. Take 1 teaspoon of Ashwagandha powder mixed with warm milk or water before bedtime. Brahmi can also be considered to enhance cognitive function and calm the mind.

Practicing Abhyanga, or self-massage, daily or at least a few times a week with warm sesame oil can help ground and soothe Vata. Apply the oil liberally to the entire body before a shower, allowing it to sit for at least 20 minutes if possible.

For insomnia, consider establishing a calming nighttime routine. Drinking warm milk with a pinch of nutmeg can have soothing effects. Meditation or gentle yoga, specifically before bed, can also ease the mind. Practices like Shavasana (Corpse Pose) or Yoga Nidra (Guided Sleep Meditation) can be effective.

Try to maintain a regular sleep schedule, aiming for consistent sleep and wake times. Avoid screens at least one hour before bed, and create a restful environment—dark, serene, and free from noise distractions.

Given the disc bulges, it’s crucial to consult with an orthopedist or a spine specialist to discuss medical management or physical therapy as necessary. Immediate medical attention should be sought if symptoms worsen. If the lightheadedness issue persists or affects daily life, it’s imperative to consult with a healthcare provider. These steps are tools to assist, but not a substitute for professional medical care.

When dealing with lightheadedness and sleep issues, particularly when there are known cervical spine disc bulges, it’s essential to consider both the physical and energetic balance of the body. This can be related to an imbalance in the vata dosha, given its link to nervous system and movement, often manifesting as issues involving dizziness and insomnia.

Ok, here’s what might help align your condition with your body’s natural balance:

1. Grounding Diet: Incorporating a vata-pacifying diet can be quite beneficial. Emphasize warm, easily digestible foods like soups, stewed fruits, cooked grains, and ghee. Avoid cold and raw foods, which can be aggravating. Eating at regular intervals can also help stabilize vata.

2. Herbal Support: Certain Siddha-Ayurvedic herbs like Ashwagandha and Bala can be soothing for the nervous system while promoting restful sleep. Consider consulting with a practitioner about their usage, ensuring they align with your unique prakriti.

3. Oil Therapy: Applying warmed sesame oil gently to your neck and shoulders can alleviate tension in the cervical region. Abhyanga, or self-massage before bath, can also soothe vata disturbances. It’s important to apply pressure gently given your cervical disc condition.

4. Sleep Routine: Create a bedtime routine involving calming practices such as deep breathing (Anulom Vilom), or a short meditation, which helps settle the mind. Ensure your sleeping environment is dark, cool, and quiet to promote uninterrupted rest.

5. Avoid stimulants: Reduce intake of caffeine, alcohol, or nicotine, as these can further disturb sleep and vata balance.

Finally, since you’re experiencing these symptoms over an extended period, keep working with your healthcare provider to track and manage your condition, ensuring any critical issues like disc bulge-related nerve impact are professionally addressed. Take immediate medical attention if your symptoms worsen or new symptoms like significant neck pain or weakness emerge.
