Menstrual pain, nausea, weakness, and dizziness you’re experiencing signify imbalances in vata dosha, particularly Apana Vayu, which governs downward bodily movements, particularly in the pelvic region. This imbalance may exacerbate pain, irregular periods, and associated symptoms.

Start with dietary recommendations. Consuming a warm, easily digestible diet helps pacify vata. Include foods like cooked vegetables, whole grains like rice, and warm milk with a pinch of turmeric. Avoid cold, uncooked, or very spicy foods; they can aggravate vata and worsen symptoms. Hydration is crucial—drink warm water or herbal teas, ginger tea, or fennel tea to facilitate digestion and alleviate nausea.

Herbal remedies may provide relief. You can try ashwagandha and shatavari, both known for their ability to balance hormones and strengthen the reproductive system. Take ashwagandha powder (1 tsp) with warm milk once daily. Shatavari can be consumed similarly, aiding to nourish and stabilize your cycle. Alternatively, dashmoolarishtam is an Ayurvedic tonic beneficial for menstrual pain. Take it 2 tablespoons with equal water after meals.

Lifestyle adjustments can make a notable difference. Adequate rest is vital, particularly during menstruation. Gentle yoga poses, like Supta Baddha Konasana or Viparita Karani, help alleviate pain and promote relaxation. Try abdominal massage with warm sesame oil two days before menstruation; it aids in pain relief and calms vata.
