HELLO POULAMI,

WHAT IS A FIBROID? -Fibroids are non-cancerous growths in the uterus (womb). They are like extra lumps of muscle tissue -Size in your case: 5cm This is moderate to big , but since it causes pain and heavy bleeding, it is symptomatic

WHY HEAVY BLEEDING? -fibroid irritates the uterine lining-> uterus contracts more-> bleeding increases

DOCTOR’S SUGGESTION (surgery)= removing uterus (hysterectomy) is the quickest solution in modern medicine

AYURVEDIC VIEW -This condition is called Garbhahaya arbuda/granthi caused by imbalance of vata and kapha with pitta aggravation, leading to abnormal tissue growth and heavy bleeding

TREATMENT GOALS -control heavy bleeding-> prevent further anemia -Shrink or stabilize fibroid growth-> prevent surgery if possible -correct anemia and deficiencies -> improve Hb, energy, immunity -balance hormones and regulate menstrual cycle -improve overall health-> digestion, stress, sleep, bone strength

INTERNAL MEDICATIONS

1) KANCHANAR GUGGULU= 2 tabs twice daily after meals =main medicine for fibroids, cysts, tumors, reduces extra growth

2) ASHOKARISHTA= 20 ml with equal water twice daily after meals =regulate menstrual cycle, reduces heavy bleeding, strengthens uterus

3) PUNARNAVADI MANDUR= 2 tabs twice daily after meals =improves hemoglobin, reduces swelling, supports liver and blood formation

4) LODHRA CHURNA= 3gm with honey twice daily =controls bleeding, cooling effect, tones uterus

5) PRAVAL PISHTI= 125mg with honey twice daily =natural calcium reduces burning, stops excessive bleeding

6) DHATRI RASAYANA= 1 tsp daily in morning =rejuvenates, improves immunity, helps in vitamin C absorption (Iron absorption)

EXTERNALLY/ PANCHAKARMA ADVISED -UTTAR BASTI= medicated oil instilled in uterus= with Ashoka taila= helps shrink fibroid= under expert -VIRECHANA= balances pitta reduces heavy bleeding -BASTI = nourishes reproductive organs, balances vata

DIET -green leafy vegetables= spinach, drumstick leaves, methi -Iron-rich foods= pomegranate, beetroot, black sesame, raisins, jaggery -Milk, ghee in moderation, dates, figs -Moong dal, whole grains, seasonal fruits -Early dinner, good hydration

AVOID -sour, spicy, oily, fried foods -excess salt, pickles, fermented food, bakery items -red meat, alcohol, smoking -stress, late nights, excessive physical exertion

YOGA ASANAS -supta baddha konasana -setu bandhasana -viparita karani -balasana =improves pelvic circulation, reduces congestion

PRANAYAM -Anulom vilom -bhramari -sheetali =reduce stress, balances hormones

AVOID= strenuous exercise during bleeding days

HOME REMEDIES -Pomegranate juice + mishri= improves Hb and controls bleeding -Soaked raisins (black) + dates in morning= natural iron boost -Aloe vera juice + pinch of turmeric= reduces inflamamtion -Warm water with lemon = helps in digestion and iron absorption

INVESTIGATIONS -HB%= every month until stable -Ultrasound pelvis= every 6 months to check fibroid size -Vitamin B12 and D levels= recheck after 3 months of therapy -LFT/KFT

-Your condition is manageable with Ayurveda but requires patience 3-6 months minimum -First priority is to control bleeding and increase Hb -Once strength improves medicines and panchakarma can help shrink/stabilize the fibroid -If despite treatment, bleeding remains uncontrolled or Hb keeps dropping-. surgery may be safest. -with the right approach diet + lifestyle + ayurvedic medications, many women manage fibroids without surgery

DO FOLLOW

HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL

THANK YOU

DR. MAITRI ACHARYA

Hello Poulami Thank you for sharing your health concern about uterine fibroids. Yes, Ayurveda has treatments that can help in management of uterine fibroids, especially in reducing symptoms (pain, bleeding, heaviness) and controlling further growth. So dont worry we are here to help you out😊

✅ AYURVEDIC PLAN OF TREATMENT

✅ Internal Medicines

1 Kanchanara Guggulu 1-0-1 after food – classical medicine for fibroid/cysts, reduces growth.

2 Varunadi kashya 15ml-0-15ml +45 ml water after food – helps in shrinkage of granthi & improves metabolism.

3 Ashokarishta 30ml-0-30ml after food – balances female hormones, regulates bleeding.

4 Triphala guggulu 2 at bed time – clears ama & reduces Kapha.

✅PANCHAKARMA THERAPY

( to be done in nearby ayurvedic panchakarma center)

👉Uttar Basti (medicated oil enema through vaginal route) – very effective in fibroid

👉Virechana (purgation) – helps clear Pitta–Kapha toxins.

👉Abhyanga + Basti therapy – regulates Vata and strengthens reproductive system.

✅DIET AND LIFESTYLE

❌Avoid excess dairy, sweets, refined flour, non-veg & fried foods (they aggravate Kapha & fibroid growth).

☑️Prefer light, warm, fiber-rich food – moong dal, cooked vegetables, barley, millet.

☑️Include turmeric, flax seeds, drumstick leaves, and green vegetables regularly.

Maintain healthy weight, regular walking & gentle yoga (especially Bhujangasana, Setubandhasana, Supta Baddha)

Yes, Ayurveda can help in controlling fibroid growth and symptoms, especially when combined with diet & panchakarma.

Complete disappearance of a large fibroid (5 cm) only with medicines is difficult – but reduction in size, avoidance of surgery, and prevention of recurrence are possible.

Since you are 43 (perimenopausal age), careful management may help you avoid surgery until natural menopause, when fibroids often shrink on their own.

Wish you a good health😊

Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

Fibroids are benign hormone sensitive neoplasms. It is an oestrogen dependent tumour, so does not occur before menarche and regress after menopause.

You are nearly to perimenopause, so oestrogen hormone will decrease and thus the growth will also regress. So ayurvedic approach will helps you but make sure your hb level is not in anaemic state.

1. Varanadi kashaya 15 ml+ 45 ml lukewarm water twice daily, half an hour before food 2. Kanchanara guggulu 1-0-1 with kashaya. 3. Mandoora vatakam 1 at lunch with butter milk. 4. Asokarishtam 10 ml just after food.

Took these medicines and follow up by taking USG and analyse the growth.

If the growth is rapid and making any difficult in your day to day life, then allopathic approach will be better.

Ayurveda offers several approaches for managing uterine fibroids and potentially avoiding further surgery. It focus on re-balancing the doshas (especially the Kapha and Vata dosha) and, maintaining optimum Rasa and Rakta dhatu, as these play a crucial role in fibroid development. One of the primary objectives in Ayurveda is to improve the metabolism (or Agni) and correct any imbalances that may contribute to tissue growth like fibroids.

A number of herbal formulations are traditionally used in Ayurveda to address fibroids. For instance, Kanchnar Guggulu is often recommended to support healthy tissue formation and help in shrinking fibroids by promoting natural detoxification processes. Take it under the guidance of an Ayurvedic practitioner, usually after meals.

The herb Ashoka also has been noted for its effectiveness in female reproductive issues and may help in regulating menstruation and reducing bleeding. This can be particularly useful if fibroid causes heavy bleeding. A prepared formulation named Ashokarishta can be taken, usually with equal part water, before meals.

Diet modifications can further support treatment. Minimize intake of Kapha-inducing foods such as dairy, processed sugars, and oily foods, as these attributes can exacerbate fibroid growth. Emphasize on a diet rich in whole grains, vegetables, and legumes that help maintain hormonal balance and support liver function for better detoxification.

Lifestyle practices like yoga and meditation can help with stress management, a contributing factor in hormonal imbalances. Practicing certain asanas such as Setu Bandhasana (Bridge Pose) and Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose), can aid in improving circulation in the pelvic area.

Ensure you stay in touch with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner for personalized supervision, especially given the recurrence of fibroids and presence of other symptoms. Taking any herbal supplements without professional consent isn’t advised, as they require careful selection based on one’s individual constitution and state of imbalance. If your symptoms worsen or you experience acute symptoms, seek immediate medical attention without delay.

Ayurveda can offer supportive strategies for managing uterine fibroids by looking at the root cause through the lens of dosha imbalances, predominantly involving Vata and Kapha. While it’s crucial to consider your gynecologist’s advice, Ayurveda might provide complementary measures to potentially manage fibroid growth or ease related symptoms.

Diet and lifestyle adjustments often play a central role. Emphasizing warm, easily digestible meals that balance Vata and Kapha can be beneficial. Think of cooked vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. Avoid cold, heavy, and processed foods. Regular routines like daily warm oil massages with sesame or castor oil and gentle exercise, such as yoga, can help maintain balance.

Herbs like Ashoka (Saraca indica), Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus), and Triphala may nourish and strengthen the reproductive system. These can assist in balancing hormones and purifying the system, but it’s important to consult with a qualified practitioner for personalized guidance.

Using decoctions like Kanchnar Guggulu or Ashokarishta under professional supervision may assist in reducing fibroid size; however, these treatments function best as part of a broader treatment plan.

Listen to your body, and make sure to monitor your condition closely with medical advice. If the fibroid is causing complications that could impact your health significantly, surgery might eventually be necessary, but supportive Ayurvedic practices could potentially aid in postponing or complementing the treatment. Always prioritize what’s safe and effective for your specific health needs.
