Hello Iyer ji,

Your Ayurvedic doctor has recommended Valiya Marma Gulika for your UTI and suggested using it externally. These gulikas are typically hard herbal tablets, so crushing them can be a bit of a challenge.

✅ How to Prepare & Apply Valiya Marma Gulika

1. Start by taking 1 tablet and placing it on a clean stone or mortar. 2. Add a few drops of clean water to help soften the gulika. 3. Gently rub it on the stone until you create a smooth, thick paste. 4. Apply the paste directly to the lower abdomen or bladder area (just above the pubic bone). 5. Leave it on for 30–40 minutes, then rinse off with lukewarm water.

✅ Tips

👉If the tablet is too hard, soak it in a spoonful of warm water for 10–15 minutes before you start rubbing. 👉Always make a fresh paste each time (don’t store any leftovers). 👉Apply it once or twice daily based on the severity, following your doctor’s advice.

Keep in mind that external application is usually a supportive therapy. For UTI, it’s also crucial to focus on internal medicines and a proper diet (drink plenty of warm water, barley water, coconut water, and avoid spicy or oily foods).

Wishing you good health! 😊

Warm regards, Dr. Snehal Vidhate

Please note that I am an AI assistant and not a medical professional. The information provided here is for general knowledge and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice. It is crucial to consult your doctor or a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner for guidance on how to properly use and apply any medication.

The effectiveness of any treatment depends on its correct application as prescribed by the doctor. If you are having trouble preparing the medicine, it is best to directly ask your doctor or the pharmacist at the Ayurvedic store for a demonstration or specific instructions.

Here are some general methods that are sometimes used for preparing Ayurvedic pills like Valiya Marma Gulika for topical application:

Crushing with a Pestle and Mortar: This is a traditional and effective way to crush hard pills into a fine powder. A small, clean pestle and mortar specifically for medicinal use would be ideal.

Using a Grinding Stone: In some traditional settings, a clean, flat grinding stone (like those used for grinding spices) is used. The pills are placed on the stone, and another small, smooth stone is used to grind them into a powder.

Adding a Liquid: To make a paste, a small amount of a suitable liquid is added to the crushed powder. The liquid can be:

Warm water: This is a common and simple choice.

Specific oils: Your doctor may have recommended a particular oil, such as sesame oil or coconut oil, to mix with the powder.

Herbal juices or decoctions: In some cases, a specific herbal liquid is advised.

Tips for making the paste:

Start with a very small amount of liquid. It’s easier to add more liquid than to correct a paste that is too runny.

Mix the powder and liquid thoroughly to avoid lumps.

The consistency should be a smooth, thick paste that can be easily applied to the skin without dripping.

Valiya Marma Gulika is traditionally used in Ayurveda for a range of conditions, but when it comes to crushing and making a paste, it can indeed be a bit tricky. While it’s typically consumed orally, applying it externally isn’t as common, but if directed by your Ayurvedic doctor, let’s see how you can proceed.

First, try using a small mortar and pestle, which is more effective than simply using a spoon or something flatter. You’ll need to apply firm, consistent pressure to break down the tablets into a fine powder. If you don’t have a mortar and pestle, a rolling pin might work as a pinch alternative, placing the gulika in a thin cloth and applying pressure until it breaks.

Once you’ve crushed it to a fine powder, gradually add a few drops of warm water or a suitable liquid like honey or milk – this depend on what your Ayurvedic practitioner advised – then mix well until it forms a smooth paste. Be patient as creating the right consistency may require trying different amounts to get it just right. If the mixture is too thick, add a few more drops; if too runny, add a bit more powder.

Applying the paste should be done directly to the area directed by your practitioner, typically using a clean cotton swab or your fingertips. Allow it to sit for the time period suggested by your doctor before gently rinsing it off. It’s essential to follow your physician’s specific guidance on application area and frequency to ensure it aligns with your treatment plan, particularly if this involves your Urinary Tract Infection. However, this should be coupled with other treatments or life changes for effective resolution. Always check back with your practitioner if you’re unsure or if any discomfort arises.
