Your symptoms indicate an imbalance in Vata and Kapha doshas, leading to irregular periods and PCOD (Polycystic Ovarian Disease). This results in hormonal irregularities, ovulation issues, and dependency on medications for menstruation. Get an USG done to understand the current situation. Short Solution: Herbal Remedies: Take Rajapravartini Vati (1-2 tablets twice daily) to regulate periods. Use Ashokarishta (20 ml with equal water after meals) to balance hormones and improve uterine health. Add Shatavari Kalpa (1 tsp with milk) to enhance fertility and hormonal balance. Dietary Adjustments: Avoid processed, fried, and cold foods; include warm, freshly cooked meals. Consume flaxseeds, sesame seeds, and green leafy vegetables to support hormonal balance. Lifestyle Tips: Practice Surya Namaskar and Baddha Konasana daily to improve ovulation. Avoid stress and maintain a regular sleep cycle. Detox Therapy (if needed): Undergo Virechana (purgation) and Uttara Basti under supervision to cleanse the reproductive system. Note: Consistency with Ayurvedic treatments and lifestyle changes is key. Regular follow-ups with an Ayurvedic doctor are recommended.

Hey Akhila, so it sounds like you’re dealing with PCOD and facing irregular periods. It’s understandable that relying on medications for periods might feel frustrating. Let’s dig into it with some Ayurveda insights and see if we can piece together a more natural approach.

First things first, PCOD is often linked with an imbalance in Kapha dosha. Kapha’s excess can lead to stagnation and a slower metabolism, which plays a big part in irregular cycles. So, what can we do to help balance that out?

Start with your diet. Aim for warm, cooked foods that are easy to digest. Things like soups, stews, and dahls are your best friends here. Avoid cold, heavy, or oily foods as they might exacerbate that Kapha imbalance. Spices like ginger, turmeric, cumin, and black pepper can stimulate digestion and help balance Kapha too. Try making a simple ginger tea… just boil some ginger slices in water and sip throughout the day.

Next, lifestyle! Regular, moderate exercise is also key. Activities like brisk walking or yoga can genuinely help to maintain a healthy weight and keep things moving—both physically and internally. Avoid exercises that are too intense, though, because we don’t want to stress the body too much.

Stress, ah, the inevitable culprit. PCOD and stress don’t mix well. Taking time for yourself to relax is super important. Practicing meditation or pranayama (breathing exercises) can really help to calm the mind and reduce stress levels.

Herbs may assist as well. Shatavari and Ashwagandha are often praised in Ayurveda for hormone balance and stress reduction. But it’s always a good idea to chat with an Ayurvedic practitioner before starting on herbs, just to make sure they align with your prakriti.

If concerns persist, or if you’re planning another baby, collaborating with a good ayurvedic doctor and maybe even another healthcare professional is absolutely beneficial. It’s important everything we do is catered specifically to your unique needs. :)
