Perimenopause brings a variety of symptoms due to hormonal changes, and Ayurveda focuses on balancing the doshas, specifically Vata and Pitta, affected during this time. Begin by adjusting your diet to support Agni, your digestive fire, which is crucial for managing bloating and weight gain. Favor warm, cooked meals over raw foods. Include ghee, which is nourishing and helps pacify Vata. Foods like cooked moong dal, carrots, and squash are beneficial.

For muscle pain and nerve pinching, apply a warm sesame oil massage daily. Sesame oil is incredibly grounding and soothing for Vata imbalance. After massaging, consider taking a warm bath infused with ginger powder to relax the muscles. Incorporate yoga exercises like gentle twists and forward bends to release tension gradually.

Mood swings can be mitigated through Ashwagandha, a revered adaptogen in Ayurveda. Take Ashwagandha churna, half a teaspoon with warm water or milk, daily. It supports the nervous system and helps in stress management.

Considering the itching, sipping on herbs such as licorice root tea can be soothing. Go easy on spicy, oily foods which might aggravate itching. Also, applying aloe vera gel topically could bring some relief.

As your cycle has shortened, Shatavari may offer support; it is known for balancing female hormones. Take a tablespoon of Shatavari powder with warm milk, before bedtime. It’s essential to ensure the quality and source of herbs, especially when dealing with hormonal issues.

Bloating often ties into poor digestion. Add a pinch of Hing (asafoetida) in your cooking, it aids digestion and reduces gas. Drinking warm water with lemon first thing in the morning can stimulate digestion and help in detoxification.

Remember to maintain consistent sleep routines, as irregular sleep can exacerbate symptoms. If these symptoms persist, it’s wise to consult with a practitioner to tailor these guidelines further to your unique constitution and health conditions.
