Stage 4 B-cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma is treatable, and many patients respond well to chemotherapy (usually R-CHOP or a similar regimen). Your role now is to keep her strong, comfortable, and well-nourished during treatment. You asked specifically about reducing chemotherapy symptoms, especially nausea and poor appetite. Below is safe, supportive guidance that can be used along with her oncologist’s treatment — NOT as a replacement. Everything here is gentle, evidence-supported, and safe in cancer patients. 🌿 1. SAFEST AYURVEDIC + NATURAL SUPPORT FOR NAUSEA (During Chemotherapy) ✔ 1. Ginger (very effective, safe) Ginger tea (mild) OR ½ tsp ginger powder in warm water Take before meals 2–3 times per day. → Reduces nausea → Stimulates appetite → Helps digestion weakened by chemo If her stomach is very sensitive, use a milder ginger-infused water. ✔ 2. Amla (Vitamin C-rich, antioxidant) 1 tsp amla powder in warm water OR 1 amla daily Helps: nausea chemo-induced inflammation immune support Amla is safe during lymphoma treatment. ✔ 3. Fennel (Saunf) Tea Sip after meals. → Reduces nausea → Improves appetite → Relaxes stomach ✔ 4. Mint (Pudina) Tea Very helpful for chemo-induced nausea. ✔ 5. Giloy (Guduchi) — ONLY small dose 250 mg once daily Supports immunity & reduces chemo side effects Do NOT use high doses during active lymphoma chemotherapy. 🍲 2. DIET TO HELP HER EAT BETTER DURING CHEMO Chemotherapy often causes: metallic taste low appetite nausea weakness These foods are easiest to tolerate and strengthen her body: ⭐ Best Foods Moong dal soup Khichdi Vegetable soups (carrot, pumpkin, bottle gourd) Soft rice + ghee Warm oats porridge Soft fruits: banana, papaya, stewed apple Coconut water (excellent during chemo) Buttermilk (light, soothing) ⭐ Foods to Avoid Spices & oily foods Sour foods (can irritate stomach) Cold foods Raw salads Processed food 🧉 3. NATURAL MEASURES TO REDUCE NAUSEA IMMEDIATELY ✔ Peppermint oil Place one drop on a cotton ball → inhale for 5 seconds Helps nausea very quickly. ✔ Small, frequent meals Do NOT give large meals — they worsen nausea. ✔ Avoid strong smells Chemo patients become sensitive to cooking smells. ✔ Keep her upright for 30 minutes after eating Prevents nausea. 🛌 4. What WILL get better after 1st cycle? It’s very common for: nausea weakness low appetite to peak after cycle 1 and improve slightly with later cycles as the body adjusts. Tell her this — it gives patients emotional strength. 🌟 5. What You MUST NOT Give To stay safe during lymphoma chemotherapy, avoid: Guggulu-based medicines Ashwagandha Shatavari Turmeric capsules in high doses Rasayana tonics like Chyawanprash Any immune-boosting formula without oncologist approval These can interact with chemo or stimulate immune cells, which is NOT recommended during active lymphoma treatment unless a doctor supervises. 💛 6. Emotional & Mental Support Your mother needs: calm environment reassurance small wins (like eating a few spoons) gentle touch, head massage, hand holding Cancer recovery is 50% emotional strength. ☘️ 7. If nausea becomes severe Ask her oncologist about: Ondansetron Dexamethasone Aprepitant These are standard anti-nausea medicines and very safe, even though you prefer natural remedies — but chemo nausea should not be allowed to become

For managing chemotherapy symptoms in Ayurveda, it’s important to support your mom’s body with gentle and nourishing practices that bolster its natural resilience. Given the intense nature of chemotherapy, focus on maintaining a harmonious balance in her doshas, particularly taking care of her agni or digestive fire.

Firstly, diet is crucial. Avoid heavy, greasy, or spicy foods that could disturb her digestive system, which is likely already vulnerable from chemotherapy. Instead, opt for easily digestible meals like khichdi (a porridge-like mixture of rice and lentils) which is soothing and nourishing. Ensure she drinks warm water, avoiding cold drinks that can hinder agni. Herbal teas like ginger or cumin with a pinch of fennel can help alleviate nausea and bloating—take these between meals for best results.

Turmeric, a powerful anti-inflammatory, can be included in her meals to support immunity, but do check with her oncologist before adding anything substantially new to her regimen. Ashwagandha, an adaptogenic herb, may also provide support but should be used under supervision of an Ayurvedic practitioner and in coordination with her medical team.

Gentle self-massage with sesame oil can help reduce stress and improve circulation, performing it in the morning before her bath if she’s feeling up for it. Daily pranayama or breathing exercises, specifically dirga pranayama (three-part breathing) can calm the mind and reduce anxiety. Encourage regular, but mild, walks in nature to promote both mental clarity and physical vitality.

Rest is pivotal, so ensure she gets adequate sleep each night. Also, while focusing on these Ayurvedic practices, it’s important to remain in contact with her healthcare provider to monitor her symptoms and adjust her care as necessary. Always align any new regimen with her primary doctor’s advice to avoid any interference with her ongoing treatment.
