Am I still able to grow taller at 17? - #50605
Hello Doctor, I am 17 years old (turning 18 soon). My current height is 4'11". My mother is around 5'2" and my father is around 5'5". I started my periods at 13–14 years old and they are regular. I feel like I have stopped growing for the past few years and I am worried that my height has completely stopped increasing. I am a bit overweight (“chubby”) but otherwise I don’t have any major health issues. I would like to know: Is there still any chance for me to grow taller at this age?
Doctors' responses
Hi dear, girls don’t get much of a growth sprout years after onset of menstruation. The upper limit is like 10 cm growth after menstruation onset. But you can still increase your protein calcium and vitamin D intake and perform exercises. But growth more than a couple more centimetres is difficult. I am not trying to crush your spirits dear.there are definitely chances for you to grow taller.
