What to do for delayed periods and symptoms like bloating and nausea after unprotected sex? - #54684
Hello doctor, I'm 22 years..I wanted to consult regarding a delayed period. My last menstrual period was from 26–30 March. I had sexual intercourse on 17th–20th April (used condoms in some instances and withdrawal method otherwise). Today is 3rd May and I still haven’t got my periods (cycle day ~38). I took a home pregnancy test today early morning, and it was negative. Over the past few days I experienced symptoms like bloating, nausea after eating, frequent urge to pass stool (sometimes loose motions), one episode of very light pink spotting, leg cramps, disturbed sleep, and occasional giddiness. Currently, most symptoms have reduced except occasional bowel urge and mild weakness and bloating. I would like to know: * Could this be just a delayed cycle due to hormonal imbalance? * Do I need to repeat the pregnancy test or do any blood tests? * What should I do to induce periods? Thank you.

Your situation most likely suggests a delayed cycle due to hormonal fluctuation or stress, especially since the urine pregnancy test is negative and symptoms are settling. However, timing still matters. Clarification Intercourse on 17–20 April → test on 3 May is borderline early A negative test now is reassuring, but not 100% conclusive What you should do Repeat urine pregnancy test after 5–7 days (first morning urine) If still no periods, do serum beta-hCG blood test for confirmation Ayurvedic Management (to induce periods) Dashmoolarishta – 15 ml + equal water, twice daily after food Rajahpravartini Vati – 1 tablet twice daily after food for 5–7 days Hingvastak churna – 2 grams with warm water after meals (for bloating, vata correction) Warm water intake throughout the day 1/2 tsp dry ginger powder in warm water once daily Diet & Lifestyle Avoid cold foods, curd at night, junk food Prefer warm, light diet (khichdi, soups) Adequate sleep, reduce stress
