Hello dear, Actually we need proper sonography to rule out things. What is position or stone. It’s 10mm but actually location of stone is more important. Dealing with a 10 mm kidney stone is a clinical challenge, as stones larger than 6–7 mm have a significantly lower chance of passing naturally through the ureter (which is typically only 3–4 mm wide). In Ayurveda, kidney stones are known as Ashmari. A 10 mm stone is considered Mahati Ashmari (large stone). The treatment focus is on Bhedana (breaking the stone into smaller fragments) and Mutrala (diuretic action) to flush the debris out. Can Surgery be Avoided? We can assess after reviewing your sonography report, While surgery is often recommended for stones 10 mm or larger to prevent kidney swelling (hydronephrosis) or infection, a trial of conservative Ayurvedic management may be considered only if there is no severe pain, fever, or signs of renal obstruction. If the stone is causing a blockage, surgery becomes mandatory to protect kidney function. To attempt breaking and flushing a stone of this size, the following protocol is often used. Prescription : 1. Yava Ksharam This is a potent alkaline preparation used specifically for its “Bhedana” (piercing/breaking) properties. Dose: 1 gram twice daily, taken adding with varanadi Kwath, about 30 minutes before meals. 2. Varandi Kwath A powerful diuretic decoction that helps reduce inflammation and increases urine volume to push out fragments. Dose: 15 ml diluted with 45 ml of lukewarm water, taken twice daily on an empty stomach (early morning and evening). Before meals. Yava Kshar should be added in it. 3. Chandraprabha Vati Used to manage pain, reduce urinary tract irritation, and prevent secondary infections. Dose: 2 tablets twice daily after food. Hydration: Drink 3–4 liters of water daily to maintain high urinary pressure. You can drink water of coconut also. (not tender coconut, drink water of ripen coconut, which one we are using in pooja in India) Dietary Changes: Strictly avoid high-oxalate foods like spinach, tomatoes, chocolate, and excessive salt. Natural Diuretics: Regularly consume Barley water or Culthi (Horse gram) soup, which are traditional litholytic (stone-dissolving) agents.

10 mm kidney stone may pass naturally in some people, but many cases need medical procedure because larger stones can block urine flow and damage kidney function. Surgery is not always mandatory Take Cystone 2 tablets twice daily after food. Varunadi Kashayam 15 ml with equal water twice daily before food. Gokshuradi Guggulu 2 tablets twice daily after food. Drink 2.5–3 liters water daily unless restricted by doctor. Avoid: Excess salt Soft drinks Spinach, tomato seeds, excess tea Holding urine Immediate hospital care needed if Severe pain Fever Vomiting Difficulty passing urine Blood in urine

For a 10 mm kidney stone (Vrikka Ashmari), management requires a disciplined approach. While stones under 5 mm often pass spontaneously, a 10 mm stone is considered borderline; it is large enough to potentially cause an obstruction but may still respond to litholytic (stone-dissolving) and diuretic therapies. 1. Varunadi kwath :- 15ml BD with same amount of water after food. 2.Gokshuradi guggulu :- 1BD after food with normal water 3. Punarnava aasav:- 15ml BD with same amount of water after food 4. Hydration: Maintain a fluid intake of at least 3–4 liters. Kulthi Paani (Horse Gram water) is highly effective; boil 25g of Horse Gram in 500ml water until reduced to 1/4th, and drink daily Important Note: If you experience excruciating pain, persistent vomiting, or a complete inability to pass urine, please consult a urologist immediately, as these are signs of an emergency obstruction where surgery becomes a necessity to save kidney function.

I am taking Calcium supplements, is it ok to continue?

do not start or continue calcium supplements without a 24-hour urine collection test to see if you are already excreting too much calcium. If your urine calcium levels are high, supplements should generally be avoided

do we need to soak horse gram before boiling?

Soaking: Soak the seeds in water for 6 to 8 hours (or overnight). This softens the hard outer shell, allowing the active phytochemicals to be released more easily into the water during boiling. Boiling: After soaking, boil the seeds in water until the liquid is reduced to about one-fourth of its original volume. Straining: Strain the mixture and consume the warm liquid.

Is the process same for barley water as well?

Yes…same as horse gram…

Hey …u have any more questions…or r u satisfied for my ans…

10 mm kidney stone is considered relatively large, and whether surgery can be avoided depends on its exact location, type of stone, degree of blockage, infection, and severity of symptoms. Since you are having severe pain and blood in urine, close monitoring by a urologist is very important. In many cases, stones smaller than 5–6 mm may pass naturally, but a 10 mm stone often has difficulty passing on its own. Still, surgery is not always immediately mandatory if kidney function is stable and there is no severe obstruction or infection. In Ayurveda, kidney stones are correlated with Ashmari. Supportive Ayurvedic management may help reduce discomfort, improve urine flow, and sometimes assist smaller or softer stones in breaking gradually. Commonly used remedies include: Varunadi Kashayam Punarnavadi Kashayam Gokshuradi Guggulu Important supportive measures: Increase water intake gradually to around 2.5–3 liters daily unless restricted medically Avoid excessive salt, packaged foods, soft drinks, and very high-oxalate foods Do not hold urine for long periods Coconut water and barley water may help support urinary flow in some cases

As you have mentioned earlier that you are consuming calcium supplements but for what because usually these stones are by product of calcium. If you don’t have any joint pain or any degeneration in your bones stop the calcium supplements For 10 mm stone usually we advise surgery as it very simple process . It is called ESWL but you don’t want that then start with these medicines. 1. Pashanbheda rasa 2 BD A F 2. Gokshuradi guggul 2BD A F 3. Cystone syp 10ml BF . Take these for 1 month repeat USG and we will see how it has affected your stones.

A 10 mm kidney stone is considered relatively large, so surgery is not always mandatory, but spontaneous passage becomes difficult in many cases. The decision depends on location of the stone, blockage, pain severity, urine flow, and kidney condition. Since you already have severe pain and blood in urine, regular monitoring is very important. Do not ignore worsening pain, fever, vomiting, or reduced urine flow. To help avoid surgery: Increase water intake gradually to around 2.5–3 liters daily if medically suitable Avoid dehydration, excess salt, soft drinks, and very high oxalate foods Coconut water and barley water may help support urine flow At home: Warm water intake and light walking can sometimes help movement of the stone. Cystone tablet – 2 tablets twice daily after food Gokshuradi guggulu – 1 tablet twice daily after food Varunadi kwath – 15 ml with equal water twice daily These may help support stone passage and reduce irritation. However, for a 10 mm stone, if there is persistent obstruction, infection, severe pain, or kidney swelling, surgical procedures may still become necessary. Regular follow-up scan is important. Regards, Dr Raghuveer (Ayurvedacharya)
