Hello Riaz, do you consume acidic foods, foods high in oxalates, or too much salt? Are you drinking enough water daily, and have you noticed any symptoms such as frequent urination, pain while urinating, or blood in the urine? Stress and dehydration can also contribute to kidney stones, so it’s important to consider those factors as well. In Ayurveda, kidney stones are often linked to imbalances in the Vata and Pitta doshas, where excess heat and dryness in the body lead to stone formation. For temporary relief, Ayurvedic remedies such as Punarnava (Boerhavia diffusa), Chandraprabha Vati, and Varunadi Vati can help reduce stones and promote kidney health. A decoction of Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris) can also be useful. Drinking lemon juice with olive oil, along with increased water intake, helps flush out stones

Hi Riaz, you need to handle the ureter one quickly especially if it’s bigger than 7 mm, as it will lead to hydronephrosis (water logging of kidney) leading to kidney damage. If there is no use of medication until now , go ahead with lithotripsy or any other surgical procedure. In case of a smaller one it can be managed with proper oral treatment. Please confirm the size.

It sounds frustrating, dealing with those painfull kidney stones. Sometimes, it’s a real puzzle how to tackle them when medicine doesn’t seem to work. First off, I gotta say – if you’ve got a big stone in the ureter, especially if causing severe pain or blockages, that’s something that needs urgent professional attention. We want to make sure there ain’t any emergency complications.

But if you’re still exploring options to possibly support your kidne’s health naturally, Ayurveda has some thoughts on that. From an Ayurvdic perspective, kidney stones are often linked to a Vata and Kapha imbalance, along with a Ama (toxin) buildup. Our goal is generally to balance these doshas and support kidney function.

In terms of practical things you can do, staying hydrated is key – drink about 8-10 glasses of warm water daily with a pinch of lemon juice, it might help flush the kidneys more. Varunadi Kwath is mentioned in Ayurvedic texts to assit with conditions like this; this can be taken after consulting an Ayurvedic doctor who can ensure it’s right for you.

You can also try consuming horse gram soup as it has been know to help with existing stones. Incorporating herbs like Gokshura and Punarnava can also aid kidney health, supporting purification.

Dietary-wise, keep things simpel and light – stick to easily digestable meals avoiding overly oily, spicy, salty or protein-heavy foods as it may stress out the kidneys. Triphala at night may help regulate digestion and Ojas.

In term of lifestyle, gentle yoga or pra-nayama exercises like Anulom-Vilom can assist in managing stress and promoting circulation. Though it seems like just a piece of solving the puzzle, these steps may offer a bit of balance.

So, we’re thinking overall wellness and engaging their multiple aspects of health. Always though, make decisions with your healthcare team watching over ya. Because sometimes it’s a combination of approaches, including Western methods, that creates the healing path we need.
