When vitamin D levels are very low, like in your case, it’s essential to tackle this with a two-pronged approach: dietary adjustments and lifestyle changes. Your vitamin D deficiency can indeed be interlinked with low hemoglobin and B12, mainly because they all often relate to the body’s absorption capabilities or dietary intake.

To begin with, for vitamin D, exposure to sunlight is crucial. Ayurveda emphasizes sun exposure, or ‘Surya Namaskar’, during the morning hours, ideally between 7-9 AM, for around 15-20 minutes daily, which helps in synthesizing vitamin D naturally through the skin. Also focus on consuming vitamin D-rich foods. Consider incorporating mushrooms, fortified dairy or plant-based milk, and potentially lean fish like salmon into your diet.

For B12, it’s important to add more animal products like eggs, milk, or if you are vegeterian, fortified cereals or plant-based options. These can bridge the gap alongside the B-complex supplements you’re currently taking.

With low hemoglobin, and assuming iron deficiency, ensure you include iron-rich foods like spinach, lentils, and beetroot in your diet. Ayurveda recommends ‘Nisha Trifala’ consuming in water before bed to boost absorption. Pair these with vitamin C rich foods, like citrus fruits, as vitamin C substantially increases iron absorption—quite effective!

Monitor your ‘Agni’ or digestive fire, the cornerstone of Ayurveda, to ensure maximum nutrient absorption. Sip warm water, avoid cold items, and sit in silence for a few minutes before and after meals. Avoid consuming tea or coffee immediately after meals as they inhibit iron absorption.

But, keep in mind that professional medical intervention remains essential, especially given that your levels are significantly low. Continue your iron and B-complex medication as prescribed, and regular review with your healthcare professional is vital to evaluate your progress and adjust treatments if need. Stay committed to these holistic changes, and you should notice improvement over time.
