How to decrease urea/creatinine in ckd patients - #23017

Preeti

24 years Female with CKD Urea - 100 Creatinine- 5.37 Bicarbonate- 14 ( metabolic acidosis) Protien in urea Which ayurvedic medicines can help? Already tried gokshuradi guggulu, chandraprabha vati, varunadi kashyam ( cause irregular menses in patient), these didn't help. While NEERI KFT works well for the patient to bring down creatinine, it doesn't work on urea and metabolic acidosis. Can medicines like trinapanchamoola, kaasni and bhumiamla help?

For addressing CKD and high urea, creatinine levels, Ayurveda focuses on balancing doshas and strengthening kidney function. Your experience with medicines like Gokshuradi Guggulu and Chandraprabha Vati provides valuable insight, but it appears a more tailored approach might benefit you.

Trinapanchamoola could be beneficial, as it is traditionally used to improve kidney function. It provides cooling and soothing effects, helping to balance Pitta dosha. Yet remember, this should be used under supervision, adjusting dosage gradually based on your body’s response.

Kaasni (Cichorium intybus) is often recommended for enhancing liver and kidney function. It aids in detoxification and can be supportive in managing metabolic imbalances such as acidosis by enhancing digestion and metabolism. Incorporate it in your regimen, seen as a powder or decoction. Start with 1-2 grams of powder mixed with warm water daily, observing any changes.

Bhumiamla (Phyllanthus niruri) is another potential candidate. Known for its protective effects on the liver and kidneys, it can aid in balancing fluid within the body and supporting renal clearance, thus reducing urea levels. Consuming 5-10 ml of its juice once a day may be helpful, but do pay attention to how it affects your menstrual cycle, as hormonal balance is delicate.

Since you’ve noted NEERI KFT helps, continue with it in conjunction, monitoring kidney parameters regularly. Also, maintain a pitta-pacifying diet to improve digestion and metabolic balance. Prefer lighter diets avoiding excess salt, proteins, and include hydrating fluids such as coconut water and herbal teas. Enhance living practices like moderate exercise, yoga, and pranayama to support overall wellbeing and kidney function. Always keep your healthcare provider updated on any Ayurvedic regimen to ensure safety, especially given your complex condition.
