Hemorrhoids can indeed be quite troublesome, especially when they cause discomfort and bleeding. In the Siddha-Ayurvedic approach, hemorrhoids are often associated with imbalances in the doshas, particularly Pitta and Vata. Addressing these imbalances can provide relief.
Start by incorporating Triphala into your daily routine. This traditional herbal formulation is renowned for its ability to support digestion and regulate bowel movements, thereby reducing strain during defecation. Take one teaspoon of Triphala powder with warm water every night before bed.
Pay close attention to your diet as well. Emphasize foods that are rich in fiber such as whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. These assist in ensuring smooth bowel movements. Avoid spicy, oily, or heavy foods that can aggravate Pitta and lead to further irritation. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day will also support the body’s natural capability to heal.
Applying a paste of turmeric and coconut oil externally can help soothe inflammation and encourage healing. Mix equal parts turmeric powder and coconut oil, and gently apply the paste on the affected region twice a day.
Regular exercise, like walking or yoga, can alleviate Vata and help improve circulation in the body. Practicing yoga aasanas like Malasana and Pavanamuktasana can specifically aid in rectal health.
However, if the bleeding is significant or persists, it would be prudent to consult with a medical professional. They can assess whether there are more serious underlying issues that need to be addressed. In such cases, immediate advice and treatment may be necessary to avoid complications.
