Hello I totally get how uncomfortable mouth problems after chewing pan/gutkha can be. It’s super common, but with the right Ayurvedic care, you can definitely feel a lot better. No need to stress
YOUR CONCERN
* Burning in your mouth * Red and white spots inside your cheeks * Pain or burning when you eat certain foods * You used to chew pan & gutkha * This has been happening for 1–4 weeks (since you stopped)
AYURVEDIC UNDERSTANDING This is called Mukha Paka or Mukha Daha. Basically, it’s because:
* Your Pitta (one of your body energies) is out of whack. * Pan, gutkha, and tobacco are hot and sharp, which causes irritation. * Your mouth lining is inflamed and not healing well.
Things that can make it worse:
* Spicy, sour, or hot foods * Tea, coffee, alcohol * Stress and bad digestion
ALL OF THIS LEADS TO
* More burning * Those red/white spots * A really sensitive mouth
Good news: If you catch this early, it can often heal up.
TREATMENT AIM
* Less mouth burning * Getting rid of those red and white spots * Calming down your Pitta * Making your mouth lining stronger * Preventing more serious problems later on
HOME REMEDIES
1. Coconut Oil Swish (Oil Pulling): * Take 1–2 teaspoons of coconut oil. * Swish it around your mouth for 5–10 minutes. * Do this on an empty stomach every morning. * Helps with burning and dryness.
2. Licorice (Mulethi) Powder: * Mix ½ teaspoon of powder with warm water or milk. * Take it twice a day. * Naturally heals your mouth lining.
3. Cool Milk Rinse: * If the burning is bad, gargle with plain, cool milk once a day.
AYURVEDIC PLAN OF TREATMENT
1.Kamdudha Ras (with Mukta): Take 1 tablet twice a day after meals. (Great for Pitta and burning.)
2.Triphala Churna:Take ½ teaspoon with warm water at bedtime. (Helps detox and heal.)
3.Avipattikar Churna (if you have heartburn): Take ½ teaspoon after lunch. (Helps control Pitta from your stomach.)
Do this for 3–4 weeks, then we’ll see how you’re doing.
Important for your mouth
Coconut oil: - Gently put some inside your cheeks with a clean finger once a day at night. This helps the spots heal faster.
DIET PLAN
✅ INCLUDE
* Soft, mild foods * Rice, lentil soup, rice and lentil porridge * Coconut water * Milk, a little bit of ghee
❌ AVOID:
* Chilies, spices, sour food * Very hot tea/coffee * Alcohol, tobacco (definitely stop!) * Fried and junk food

Important stuff to know:
⚠️ If those white/red spots don’t get better in 2–3 weeks, or if you have more pain, bleeding, or ulcers, please see a dentist or ear, nose, and throat doctor right away. Catching things early keeps you safe.
You’ve already done the most important thing by quitting pan and gutkha. With the right Ayurvedic care, good food choices, and some patience, you will definitely heal.
All the best, Dr. Snehal Vidhate
Hello, Your symptoms of mouth burning, white patches on the inner cheek, pain while eating, and difficulty taking food, with a history of tobacco chewing for 1–4 weeks, strongly suggest tobacco-induced oral mucosal damage, commonly seen in conditions like oral leukoplakia / tobacco stomatitis / early oral submucous irritation.
Tobacco causes chronic heat, dryness, and toxicity in the oral tissues, leading to burning sensation, inflammation, altered mucosa, and white patches. Early intervention is very important to reverse changes and prevent progression.
Ayurveda focuses on detoxification, cooling the oral mucosa, healing ulcers/patches, and restoring tissue health, along with strict cessation of tobacco.
🔎 Recommended Investigations (If not done in the last 3–6 months) Complete oral examination by Dentist / ENT CBC with ESR – to assess inflammation Serum Vitamin B12 & Iron studies – deficiencies worsen burning mouth Oral smear / biopsy – if white patches persist beyond 2–3 weeks after stopping tobacco
💊 Internal Medicines Phase 1 – 21 days (Reduce burning, inflammation, detoxify oral mucosa) 1.Khadiradi Vati – 1 tablet, 4 times daily (Let it dissolve slowly in mouth) 2.Guduchi Ghana Vati – 1 tablet twice daily after meals 3.Avipattikar Churna – ½ tsp at bedtime with lukewarm water 4.Amalaki Churna – ½ tsp twice daily after meals with honey or water
Phase 2 – 45 days (Mucosal healing + prevention of recurrence) 1.Gandhak Rasayan – 1 tablet twice daily after meals 2.Kaishore Guggulu – 2 tablets twice daily after meals 3.Yashtimadhu Churna – ½ tsp twice daily with warm milk or water
🌿 Local / External Treatment 1.Mouth Gargles (Very Important) Triphala Kashaya (lukewarm) – gargle twice daily OR Yashtimadhu decoction – once daily 2.Topical Application Yashtimadhu Ghrita or Cow ghee Apply gently over affected areas 2–3 times daily 3.Oil Pulling (Gandusha) Coconut oil or sesame oil – 5–7 minutes every morning
🥗 Diet & Lifestyle Recommendations ❌ Strictly Avoid Tobacco in all forms (very crucial) Spicy, very hot, fried foods Alcohol, smoking Betel nut, pan masala Very sour & salty foods ✅ Include Soft, lukewarm foods Rice gruel, vegetable soups Milk, ghee, coconut water Pomegranate, banana (ripe), soaked raisins Adequate water intake
🧘🏻♂️ Supportive Practices Cooling pranayama: Sheetali / Sheetkari – 10 rounds daily Stress reduction & adequate sleep Maintain good oral hygiene
🕉️ Follow-up & Duration Burning sensation relief: 7–10 days Pain while eating reduces: 2–3 weeks Whitening/patch healing: 4–6 weeks (if tobacco is completely stopped) Persistent or non-healing patches must be evaluated further
✨ Early tobacco-related oral lesions are reversible with strict habit cessation and disciplined Ayurvedic treatment. Consistency is the key to complete healing and prevention.
With kind regards, Dr. Sumi MS (Ayu)
