Can Ayurveda Help with My IBS and Musculoskeletal Issues? - #51079
I am primarily Vata-Pitta with a little bit of Kapha. I live in the high desert of Utah and have developed digestive problems. Can I use Ayurveda to calm my Irritable Bowel Syndrome? I am also experiencing a lot of musculoskeletal problems. I am female and 73 years old.

Doctors' responses
—Since your constitution is mostly Vata-Pitta and you live in a dry climate, your digestion and joints are sensitive. To help with IBS and stiffness, Ayurveda suggests: Eat warm, cooked, and moist foods like rice, oatmeal, cooked vegetables, and soups. Avoid very spicy, raw, or fried foods. -----Use gentle spices like ginger, cumin, and fennel to support digestion. -----Keep a routine: regular meal times, warm water, and calm eating. -----Care for joints: gentle stretching, warm baths, and light daily oil massage (like sesame oil) can ease stiffness. -----Support your body’s balance: get enough rest, reduce stress, and stay warm and hydrated. These steps calm Vata and Pitta, helping both your digestion and musculoskeletal discomfort. -----Rx: 1)Triphala Churna – 1 tsp HS with warm water 2)Amlaki Syrup – 5 ml BD 3)Cumin-Fennel-Ginger Tea – 1 cup after meal — review after 21 days
